When Frost Bites and Sunlight Heals

TLDR: January 2022. A freezing sunset walk around a forest lake. Cold toes, warm soul, and golden sunlight worth every shiver.

There’s something magical about walking around a frozen lake at sunset, even when it’s so cold you question your life choices. January 2022 delivered one of those crisp winter days where the sunlight hits just right, and the world looks like it’s dipped in gold. Sure, the frost nipped at my fingers and toes, but the quiet beauty of the frozen landscape made up for it.

The forest lake was a mirror of stillness, the low sun painting everything in soft, golden hues. The kind of light that turns a walk into therapy and makes you grateful to be alive—even if you can’t feel your nose.

Winter may be harsh, but moments like these? They remind you that nature always knows how to put on a show. And sometimes, freezing your butt off is the price of admission. Worth it.

Of that I have no doubt! You're really great at appreciating your experience, no matter what's happening (mostly...lol), but some things are just so much easier to appreciate! And yup, things are much easier to appreciate when it is warm than in the freezing cold! Even rain!

Not promising anything, but yeah, she might just come over :-) I would LOVE to join for sure, but I have more strict obligations here at the moment, as my customers are all local...
As for the climate and the weather: no doubt :-) If you think I dislike the Belgian weather, wow! You'll be surprised by her degree of dislikement :-)

First thing I find when looking up Lower Puna: Lava eruptions and flows! Yup, cool drone flights are guaranteed! Well... maybe not "cool" :-D

Oh yes indeed, this is one of the most volcanically active places on earth! During the last eruption in 2018 (that made the flow on which the structure in which I'm sitting as I type this, was built) there were lots of drone pilots out there. Some got fantastic drone videos. Yes, I can definitely guarantee that you will indeed have incredible drone flights here! Hehehe...well, it's cool now! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Well, to be honest, I would LOVE to shoot some volcanic action with the drones! I actually always keep some old drones handy for that, should the occasion rise :-D lol Don't want my newest shiny drone to be melting over the lava of course! First test the waters with an old one :-D

Of that I'm sure, and that's a good idea to use the old drones first for the volcano sacrifice! Well, if and when you pop up here, the Kilaua State Park, where there is an active caldera, is not far away, a bit to the south east, so it's very doable! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Kilaua is at a bit higher elevation, so there is some fog, rain, and a little chill, but it's not generally a problem at all. Where I am it's generally comfortable most of the time, only occasionally getting chilly or to hot, though it can rain a lot at times! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I LOVE a LOT of rain SOMEtimes :-) Same with fog. I don't like PermaGray or PermaRain :-D lol
BTW: Ecency is acting up on the comments again, all of a sudden no comments left in my list :-) I'm pretty sure that was not the case, as I'm quite a bit behind :-D lol
