SUN & RAIN

It was raining last night and then today, the whole morning was cloudy but without the rain. At half past noon, give or take a minute or two, the weather turned sunny. I mean, it was sunny everywhere but a small gray cloud remained right above my house. And that small, cartoonish cloud decided to deliver a bit of rain when it seemed that the cloudy, rainy weather was over.

The falling raindrops, lit by the intense midday sunlight, looked like sparks.

When animated in GIF format, they looked even better.

In this wide shot that shows a good chunk of my yard, the raindrops aren't visible. I had to focus on a smaller area to make the rain look good in the photograph.

As you can see in this photograph, my first attempt at catching the raindrops with my camera wasn't very successful. The rain was visible but the composition was too muddled, chaotic, and dull.

Fortunately, I soon noticed how good the raindrops looked against the neat blurred background provided by the facade of the house across the street.

The leaves and branches on the top of my elderberry tree were a nice addition to the composition.

I made each GIF using a series of consecutive shots I took with an animation in mind.

Here you can take a look at the blue sky and fluffy clouds above me. The tiny white dots visible when you enlarge the picture, are the sparse raindrops. The photograph was taken when the gentle rain was almost over.

In this wide shot, you can see another chunk of my yard and a bit of my neiberhood too.

While I was trying to find the best way to catch the rain, some of my cats were resting, sniffing, and playing all around me. The male in the foreground of this shot is called Bembo. Behind him, also on the table, you can see another male. That one is called Palchich. Small, in the background, is the female called Sivka.

Soon after I took these photographs, only about ten to fifteen minutes later the rain cloud above my neighborhood dissolved completely. Less than an hour later the sky was completely clear and it stayed that way until the sunset.
It was a nice, relatively warm afternoon, but I stayed home and continued preparing macro photographs for future posts of the "MACRO OCTOBER IN MARLERA" series.
The unexpected sunny rain gave me an opportunity to make a nice little break from the slightly tedious indoor activities in front of the computer screen and definitively made this Saturday better. It also gave me an opportunity to publish another post today and harvest more upvotes in a strictly legit way.

😊😊 trying to capture the rain drop when Is not too heavy is a very difficult task, I love you spirit in continue trying. Your cat looks so cute and they are so big, they must to more than 10years older.

some nice shots there, you tried to capture a shot of the raindrops, and you succeeded, the blurred background makes it more beautiful to look at

Nice photos of the cats having a good time in the garden. I could never take good photos of raindrops. You have found a way to make raindrops looking very good and interesting.
That big white cloud seemed so thick and heavy. I wonder how it could float in the sky!?
Nice to have a sunny day with blue sky. Cats love blue sky!

😃 Yes, that plumpy white cloud sure looks heavy. Too heavy to fly. Maybe it's glued to the blue sky so it can't fall.

That’s very good to have good quality glue for pinning the clouds! This would save you from having the cloud falls over your garden! The cats would be very puzzled!

Wow, what a beautiful moment, I have heard that, when the sun and rain together, it's a blessed moment, have you heard about it? The gifs you have made are giving me the feeling of being there in the rain. Thanks for sharing. The cats are enjoying the rain and feeling happy.

Yes, here is also considered blessed. If a rainbow appears, it's even more blessed. It doesn't happen very often - it's relatively rare and beautiful. I like that sunny/rainy atmosphere very much.

I made it in the video editor. The Adobe Premiere Pro editor. However, there are many free apps that can enable you to create GIFs. I'm sure you'll find plenty of options if you google "GIF maker free" or something like that.

@borjan I'm watching the news this morning, a big storm in Istria, in Opatija the waves are sinking the promenade... What's the situation with you in Medulin? There is a bay, very shallow sea, I believe the storm did not sink the city?

Here the bay is too sheltered for big waves to come to the harbor and the promenade ... but the tide was very high last night so the docks and a stretch of the promenade were covered with water. There wasn't any big trouble for the people fortunately, the sea hadn't reached the buildings.

Sí, a la mayoría de mis gatos les encanta la lluvia cuando no es demasiado fuerte. La noche anterior llovió mucho. Esta lluvia en un día soleado fue breve y suave.

😃 Yes, that cloud was like in cartoons. Only my and a few more houses were affected by the rain, the rest of the neiberhood stayed dry.

I've tried in the past to take pictures of raindrops and I admit that it wasn't difficult. With this, I think I know the format to use when taking pictures of the rain.

It's been quite rainy here in the UK. Although I don't enjoy going out in the rain it can be great for photography. Especially when capturing falling rain and "rain drops" on the plants and flowers (as your awesome photos show). !VSC

Cats most definitely hate the rain!

😃 She eats many things. The remains or small chunks of fish and meat I eat, various canned and dry cat food from the pet shop, cheap sausages & salami found at discount prices in the local supermarket - from time to time Sivka catches a rat or a bird and eats it raw.
