RED ROCKS ON ARTSY TUESDAY

avatar

Late last night, while searching for old photographs for one of the future nature-themed posts, I came across some Photoshop distortion created to be part of a surreal artwork but I have never used them for anything.

(Enlargeable)

Today, after breakfast, I felt inspired to continue what was started long ago, in the summer of 2007. The red shapes in the opening picture ...

... were created by cutting out & distorting the coastal rock, shown in this photograph.

Here you can see the original version of the butterfly used for the opening collage. In the following artwork ...

... I played with the same rocks in a different way, and then ...

... I created a simple animated GIF from that stuff.

I actually, created two slightly different GIFs not just one. I mean, only the glowing eyes are different, the rest is the same.

If you take a good look at this last creation, you'll notice a small yellow detail in the right part of the picture. If you enlarge the thing by clicking on the picture, you'll see that the small yellow detail is an autoportrait. I mean, autoportrait is probably too strong a word for that thing. It's just a selfie taken in the bathroom mirror and then changed in Photoshop by applying the simple "invert" option.

This is the original selfie.

AND THAT'S IT. AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS, EDITS, AND ALL THE MANIPULATIONS, ARE MY WORK - THE END.

I also like to look at such special and large stones because they are very sensitive and have a very beautiful shape. You have always Shared very great and beautiful photography.

Is it just me or the rocks look quite scary? 😄

Yes. 😄 It seems that the red color surrounded by dark can make things look a bit disturbing.

Beautiful photos! But those rocks just frightened me! They looked like alien monsters in the dark night! Quite creepy!

I sooo love butterflies - truly. I enjoy seeing them hatch from their cocoons where I live. Your artwork is interesting too. Thanks for sharing. U seem like an interesting fella. #rockstar!
