INSIDE THE SUPERMARKET PLODINE
Plodine is the name of the local, Croatian, supermarket chain that has quite a few stores here in my area. One of the Plodine supermarkets was built in 2011, on the outskirts of Medulin - the small seaside town where I live.
Since its opening, in June 2011, I have visited that fairly big store regularly but its interior rarely appeared in my posts, because I don't feel comfortable photographing inside the store with the camera. It attracts too much attention.
But today, I went on a photographic expedition equipped with an iPhone I borrowed from a friend. With the mobile phone, spying around is much easier, so I had a lot of fun taking the photographs I'm presenting in this post. Have a good viewing.
This photograph was taken at the indoor stand with fresh fruits & vegetables, at 7:21 AM, but ...
... but it all started a little less than half an hour earlier, in front of the entrance.
A small group of early risers was waiting for the store to open.
In this photograph, I caught that elusive moment when one of Plodine's employees turns the automatic sliding door on, so the shopping can start.
It was time to enter. But before that, for me at least ...
... it was time to take the shopping cart because I had a pretty long list of things to buy.
Soon I stopped for less than a minute while passing by the fruits & vegetables stand. Not to buy something - just to take the above photograph. The watermelons looked great and inviting so I put them in the foreground of the shot.
After photographing this small but lovely collection of colorful, nicely decorated mugs, I returned to the fruits & vegetables place where I took some lemons, plums & peppers, and then ...
... I spent some time in front of the shelves filled with a nice variety of wines.
I took a couple of bottles there, and then I took the following photograph ...
... on the way to the nearby in-store bakery.
After buying the fresh bread and packaged crackers, I passed by the meat section with a small butcher shop.
A minute later I stopped by the big freezer filled with all kinds of ice creams. I mean-this thing is usually filled with ice cream, but today it looked pretty empty. It seems that people got really crazy for ice cream on these hot summer days. The extreme increase in the price of ice cream offered in ice cream parlors and restaurants could also be a reason.
After a bit of wandering around the store, I decided to visit the most colorful and imaginative part of Plodine. The toy section.
Unlike the other stuff in the store, the toys look like sculptures. I mean, they are some kind of sculptures, I guess, so these shelves look a bit like a part of an art exhibition. You can see a bunch of colorful mermaids in this photograph.
These little horses, ponies - I suppose, were created in the same or similar style.
A found a dinosaur too. I mean, I found two. There was this cartoonish blue one ...
... and this slightly more realistic brown velociraptor.
This is a cobra. A dangerous, highly venomous piece of reptilian plastic.
You can see two bears in this shot. A brown and a white one.
You can see another bear pair here.
Here you can take one last look at those bears. That's more than enough about them for today.
Here you can see some cool, probably pretty fast sports cars.
After portraiting this very professional prima ballerina, I left the toy world ...
... and continued my epic morning journey through one of the only two supermarkets of Medulin.
As time was passing, the store was slowly getting slightly crowded.
I didn't buy any meat today, but at 8 AM I photographed some clients of the in-store butcher shop. The product, shown in the following photograph ...
... is Vegeta, a mix of spices with a long history.
It was an extremely popular product in Yugoslavia. Practically a pop culture icon of that socialist, wannabe communist world.
The golden age of Vegeta now lies somewhere in the dustbin of recent history, but you can still sprinkle your dish with the magical spice of communist nostalgia.
This photograph was taken when I stopped to pick the olive oil.
Here you can see a bunch of rolled front door rugs.
They looked pretty abstract and very photogenic from a certain angle.
This shot was taken in the fruits & vegetables area.
After taking another generic shot not far from there ...
... it was time to pay the price at the counter. This photoshoot cost me a little less than 200 euros.
AND THAT'S ALL FOR TODAY. HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE JOURNEY. AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK.
Congratulations, your post has been added to Pinmapple! 🎉🥳🍍
Did you know you have your own profile map?
And every post has their own map too!
Want to have your post on the map too?
It's really very peaceful sometimes to be without camera.
Lmao.. wonder if staff thought you were a spy from a potential competitor haha. You were certainly brave lmao. Thanks mate for sharing your adventure!
😄
Wao! This store is very big and wide enough for many things to be bought there. Place like this are not where one can go if you know you do not want to spend money because everything in there will surely draw your attention closer. Good pictures and great post friend.
That’s quite a big and modern shopping mall. The wine collection and olive oil shelves look very interesting! I would like to have that blue dinosaur. You borrowed an iPhone! Very nice friend!
I loved the tour, it's always interesting to poke around in the supermarkets of other countries 😄, but hey, I would have liked to see the pet food and stuff section too, greetings!
I'll probably do a similar tour through a pet shop in the city soon. 😄
Great! 😃
Where would we be without our Supermarkets? !LOL
Back in the stone age.... ⛏⚒

Looks like a very big shopping mart, Would love to visit it if I ever get a chance, It was exciting for me to see how some people were waiting for the supermarket to open. it rarely happens here. Maybe it is me who gets up too late. I don't even remember when the last time I got up early in the morning.
Wow, these are some great photos! I love the way you captured the different sections of the store, from the fresh produce to the toy section. The photos of the toys are especially interesting, they look really fun.
I also enjoyed the captions you wrote for each photo. They were informative and funny, and they really added to the overall experience of the post.
My previous @v4vapp proposal has expired. I have a new one which is running but unfunded right now. I'm still running @v4vapp and all my other services.
I've just updated v4v.app and I'm getting ready for some exciting new features after the next hard fork.
Please consider asking your friends to vote for prop #265 or consider unvoting the return vote.
For understandable reasons in the current crypto climate it is harder to get funded by the DHF, I accept this so I'm asking a wider audience for help again. I'll also add that I power up Hive every day and usually power up larger amounts on 1st of the Month. I'm on Hive for ideological reasons much more than for only economic benefit.
Additionally you can also help with a vote for Brianoflondon's Witness using KeyChain or HiveSigner
If you have used v4v.app I'd really like to hear your feedback, and if you haven't I'd be happy to hear why or whether there are other things you want it to do.
Never used the app. Don't know what the app is about. Maybe I'll take a look at it in the evening. For now, I supported the proposal because some months ago I heard you talking in some videos on 3 Speak and I liked your cool ideas. I mean, I don't remember those ideas, just that I considered them cool 😄
Thank you!
The supermarket looks really big and nice, it's surprising that some shoppers are waiting for it to open, I don't think it happens in my area. Nice shots.
Thess are fabulous things, this is really amazingly beautiful toys, i am sure kids will must be enjoyed these and with these precious things.

You said Yugoslavia and I hadn't heard that since June of 1991. It is like a swear word, yes? Vegeta! I have seen that with my own eyes. LOL, I thought you were putting it in your cart!
What a great grocery store. I like to go nice and early myself, there aren't that many in the store and you can get through it quickly. I like to meander, but, not too slow... I would never get out of there. Your shots came out great, the iPhone does a nice job, well, all the new Androids do too. Cell phone cameras have come a long way.
Some of the items that are scarce looking on the shelves. We have the same problem here, but, ours is the shipping problems they are having. Not sure if it is the same there. For the most part, you can get everything, but, some items are slower getting here.
You don't mention any prices, so nobody knows is food is expensive or cheaper there. It is interesting to see other countries' food stores, but, it loses a little bit when you don't have prices to compare it with. This was fun and thanks for taking us along!
#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world. Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday
Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!
1.Go to any type of market, or anywhere that you pay money for a service. It can be a museum, a movie theatre, or an auction. Be creative!
2.Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost? We like to compare prices, otherwise, it is just pictures of a market!
3.Post the pictures! No out-of-focus ones, please! Tell a little bit about the pictures that you post. Having many pictures to scroll through does not make a better post without explanation.
4.Use the MarketFriday Community Platform to post #hive-196308 (this is not required, but appreciated) If you don't, then #MarketFriday should be your first tag
5.Following me and reblogging the post so more see it would be appreciated !! Not a rule, just appreciated, more vision for more views on your posts!

😄 Yes, Yugoslavia became something like that after all the wars in the area. And strangely (or not) it gets more like a swear word as the time passes. The people who lived in it, especially during the 70ies and 80ies still have plenty of good memories, not just the bad ones. It was a pretty loose and free way to live in communism, definitely not too bad in comparison to what other communist states had to offer in that period.
I forgot the prices 🙂didn't think of that. I'll try to remember and include them in future posts. At last a couple of prices. The food got pretty crazy expensive after EURO was introduced. I like the new currency because makes my online activities easier, but buying some ordinary stuff like bread, for example, feels a bit like luxury shopping now. Fortunately, there are always discounts in the big stores ... but even with that, things cost more. A half price now is often more than I paid as full price a year or so ago.
I was always a quick buyer - get the stuff and run out 😄but now, with the photography involved, I'm enjoying my shopping time slowly.
This is a very cool community.
