It's not a bootlicker, just a good environment for bootlickers. But it's not only for them, fortunately. The system is still wide enough for different types of people and behaviors... but I'm long enough here to notice a certain trend of centralization and regression toward something that can be poetically described as a "bootlicker's paradise."

I don't understand why some people get a shit load of votes and some don't, even when their content is good. Then there's people who don't like you to cash out. Sometimes you need the money. I still enjoy Hive though. That's my rant for the day lol.

This isn't a meritocracy ... or maybe it is but the supreme merit one can have is being close and loyal to some group or individual.
Most of those who get a shit load of votes are minions who run and moderate various communities and endorse a multitude of mostly moronic petty rules. The votes are how big players pay them for their jobs. The quality of the posts isn't important.
Since visual arts are my profession, I can confidently say that many of them curate and decide what's good and what isn't with the grace, taste, and competence of a monkey running a nuclear power plant.
When it comes to the hypocrisy of the unofficial "cash out" rules and policies ... well that's a topic worth a long post not just a comment.
For now, I'll mention only a good old Latin proverb that translates more or less like this: "What is permissible for Jupiter is not permissible for a cow"
