Our Healthcare is Shite, Mate πŸ€™

So, what's your experience with emergency services in healthcare been like over recent years? Here's mine!

Tuesday, 12 PM. I am currently 9 weeks pregnant, and STARVING before my doctor's appointment. I went to Dairy Queen across the street to get a cheeseburger, and two bites in, I immediately regretted it... Waves of nausea washed over me, and within 5 minutes, I was throwing it back up. For the next 4 hours, I was extremely sick. Thankfully, the rest of the evening progressed normally, and I was able to eat soup and ice cream.

(Image created using an AI art generator on NightCafe. Needless to say, I won't be going to a fast food chain for awhile!)

The next morning, I made myself bacon and eggs for breakfast -- big mistake! 😬 I immediately became violently ill again. After being sick for HOURS once more, I finally caved and called 911.

Paramedics arrived. IV trip that took them three tries to finally get into me. Zofran, medication that dissolves under the tongue, that I instantly threw up. By the time we arrived at the hospital, my "vitals were fine" (despite the fact I WASN'T πŸ™„), and I was expected to wait in the Waiting Area with several other people ahead of me while keeling over, barfing into a bag every 15 minutes.

An hour went by. I was finally admitted intooo... another Waiting Room! πŸ€ͺ A doctor briefly saw me after another 15 minutes of waiting to say I would receive medicine; never saw her again. While I tried to wait, I asked the receptionist for a cup of water; he refused. I had to FIGHT for a CUP OF FUCKING WATER before he "gave in!"

THEN my IV started dripping blood. I asked for the receptionist's help -- he was DISGUSTED by the blood. He refused to look at or touch me! He took out my IV and did not give me another one.

I left after that.

I spent the remainder of the day -- 3-9 PM -- throwing up, unable to keep even water down. After 2 days of vomiting, I was extremely dehydrated. So, by 9 PM, I decided to try the hospital again; maybe it wouldn't be as busy!

I hate trying to be optimistic...

Paramedics arrived. They did not attempt an IV due to the previous paramedics terrible job. They did not give me any medicine because I told them I had thrown up Zofran. My "vitals were fine," so Waiting Area again -- where IT WAS EVEN BUSIER THAN BEFORE! 😫 If the previous wait was 2 hours, THIS ONE WAS 6!

Went home again.

Thankfully, I have managed to get better entirely on my own. I treated my illness like food poisoning: stopped forcing things in and let my body clear itself out. A ton of "medicine" πŸ₯΄ I did not eat until I hadn't thrown up for a few hours, and even then I only ate cereal, soup, and toast. It has been 48 hours, and I have not thrown up since πŸ™

So, obviously this explains my absence on Hive πŸ™ And I apologize for that. I will probably be inactive for awhile until I start to feel better. I have an ultrasound tomorrow, and I'm praying everything is looking good... In the meantime, thank you for checking in! I hope everyone has a great weekend

No bueno! Hopefully you've been taking prenatals, those were really important for my son as the little fella was growing!

It's hard when you're craving something like that, and hungry, and then the world tells you big mistake. Assholes LOL hope you feel better and the little one is growing along nicely!
