Nothing in Life is Promised

(Source: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jul/06/texas-floods-forecast-climate-crisis)

By this point, I am sure that many of you have heard about the flash flood in Texas. I have seen a lot of people confused about faith because of it, as is always the case when disasters involving children take place. "I don't understand how anyone could believe in--" "What kind of a God could--"
Even worse are the people who have been finding the situation ironic: "They were going to a Christian camp--" "Texas is a republican state--"

So, I thought I would take a minute to explain how faith works.

Firstly, there are no guarantees in life -- we realize this, right? 😅 Our ancestors certainly did; it's why they worked so hard to ensure that we lived to see today. No one has promised that you will wake up tomorrow, or that your grandmother will not get hit by a car, or that a pregnancy will make it full-term.

None of these things are guaranteed. We simply live in a time where we have learned to take things for granted. Life expectancy 100 years ago was 58-years-old. 1,000 years ago it was 35-years-old.

We live in a time where, by all accounts and purposes, there is no longer a need to have faith. We have medicine for the pain and suffering, we have nearly eradicated disease, our needs are automatically met at birth due to the belief of human rights, we don't face grief because everyone lives to 100.

Except during incidents such as this one, when death and grief are rudely thrown into our face. We do not have to face death often nowadays, least of all on such a mass scale. When children are involved, the situation becomes unfathomable. Children are the human definition of innocence; how could anything terrible ever happen to them?

(Source: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1GFaHGGkoZ/)

The problem begins when we judge based on human values. The laws of nature never takes justice and fairness into account before wiping out a town. Lightning doesn't care if it strikes a devout Christian; it is simply following the path of least resistance.

Children are not exempt from suffering and death. It was never promised otherwise. The fact that WE believe otherwise is our own fault, not God's. We have been guaranteed suffering, disaster, and death ever since we were banished from the Garden of Eden (we were promised no suffering in there). Children are human, and humans have never been immortal; why choose to get upset with a universal fact?

Again, when most people approach these issues, they do so from an emotional and egotistical approach: "I would never-- " "I can't understand-- " Then ask yourself: when was the last time nature ever gave a fuck about your feelings? When has nature ever said, "Oh, are they praying? Never mind, guess I won't destroy that town anymore 🤷‍♂️"

God has never guaranteed safety on this earth for worshipping Him. What He HAS promised is eternal life with Him in heaven. God prays that in spite of everything, people will keep their faith and continue to turn to Him.

Our relationship with God on earth is much like that of a parent's. I can't control the weather, I won't be able to protect my children from everything that life throws at them, I won't be able to magically change reality and facts to suit my own needs (like a brain dead patient magically returning to their former self).

No, I won't be able to do any of these things for my children... It does not affect the love that I have for them, and it does not change the fact that I will still do my absolute best for them. And no matter what we go through in life together, I pray that my children will continue to turn to me. That is called faith.

These situations are for sure difficult and really sad! It’s annoying that it ends up being about faith and questions of it. I think it’s just sadly one of those easy divisive issues.

The same people complaining about faith and fairness when it comes to children certainly aren’t doing diddly squat to end child enslavement in Africa and China I’m sure though. Selective outrage is really annoying lol

Hello my friend, it's so good to hear from you! I apologize that I haven't been commenting, but I'm really trying to put my drive back into Hive ✊️ make that the site slogan !LOL

But um, going back to the post -- I really feel like faith is largely driven by human measure. Again, we can't comprehend how a God could "do this" to children when we forget that the laws of nature have existed long before we did.

I was also seeing something very interesting, a lot of comments were suggesting "cloud seeding" that caused the flooding, and it has been confirmed that some state was "experimenting." Now I am seeing there is flooding going on in several other states. And it isn't unusual, they're used to heavy rainfall, but even people who are accustomed to it are noting that SOMETHING is OFF...

Yeah.. I wasn't sure how deep to go with you on that LOL but indeed cloud seeding is a very likely culprit.. there is some asshole in Texas (although he has a SWEET fucking mullet, the old American mullet is coming back!! LOL) is getting a LOT of attention from some really nasty people.. shaking hands with Clinton and lots of the other eugenecists sadly. Nothing good ever comes from that.

Take your time with Hive. It comes and it goes, and we just have to find a balance!

Oh, there's a ton of stuff going on behind the scenes. Speaking of Clinton, Trump attacking him over the Epstein Files -- strongly believe that Trump was on that island...

Anyway, keep your wits about you. Obviously something big is about to unfold...
