LOH Contest #269: 2026 New Year's Resolutions 🎆 (ENG-ESP)

The year 2025 was a rather tumultuous one for my family and I. In August, we had been greeted with the wonderful news that I was pregnant! 🙏 Unfortunately, after enduring terrible sickness and suffering for the entire pregnancy, I miscarried our first son at the end of November... It has been a terrible way to end the year, and our holiday season has been tinted with grief 😔...

El año 2025 fue bastante tumultuoso para mi familia y para mí. En agosto, recibimos la maravillosa noticia de que estaba embarazada. 🙏 Desafortunadamente, después de sufrir terribles enfermedades y sufrimiento durante todo el embarazo, aborté a nuestro primer hijo a finales de noviembre... Ha sido una terrible manera de terminar el año, y nuestras fiestas han estado teñidas de dolor 😔...

This is my first resolution and it is the most vital one, because from it, everything else shall follow! 🙇‍♀️ My top priority is to improve my relationship with God each and every day. I must continue to honor His covenant by working on my sinful thoughts and behaviors, of which my anger and pride has been the most prominent. I owe everything to God -- I would be nothing without Him! And I know that, through Him, anything will continue to be possible 🙏

Esta es mi primera resolución y la más importante, porque de ella surgirá todo lo demás. 🙇‍♀️ Mi máxima prioridad es mejorar mi relación con Dios cada día. Debo seguir honrando su pacto trabajando en mis pensamientos y comportamientos pecaminosos, entre los cuales la ira y el orgullo han sido los más prominentes. Le debo todo a Dios; ¡no sería nada sin él! Y sé que, a través de él, todo seguirá siendo posible 🙏

Branching off from my first resolution: yes, I desperately need to correct my behaviors, particularly in regards to my pride and anger. There are countless times when I believe I know better than everyone else, that I AM better than everyone else, and times when I take my anger out on others. My average temperament tends to be moody, snappy, and miserable. And, of course the ones who bear the brunt of it are the ones who least deserve it: my family. This isn't right AT ALL; in fact, it's incredibly cruel...
So, I pray that God will help me do better 🙏 It is the greatest challenge that I have faced throughout my life...

Partiendo de mi primera resolución: sí, necesito desesperadamente corregir mis comportamientos, sobre todo en lo que respecta a mi orgullo y mi ira. Hay incontables veces en las que creo saber más que los demás, que soy mejor que los demás, y otras en las que descargo mi ira con los demás. Mi temperamento promedio tiende a ser malhumorado, irritable y desdichado. Y, por supuesto, quienes sufren las consecuencias son quienes menos lo merecen: mi familia. Esto no está nada bien; de hecho, es increíblemente cruel...
Así que le pido a Dios que me ayude a mejorar 🙏 Es el mayor desafío que he enfrentado en mi vida...

My next resolution is to improve my health! For a number of years, I have been dealing with a thyroid condition, and it has had a real damper on my life... Constantly tired and lethargic, irritable, racing heartbeat, struggling to breathe, and perhaps the most deliberating symptom, the inability to gain weight. For over 4 years, I stayed a consistent 110lbs., regardless of ANYTHING that I did...
However, by the grace of God -- and in only one month's time -- I have managed to gain 20lbs! 🙏 I am going to continue to gain another 20lbs., praying that God will be with me every step of the way.

¡Mi próximo propósito es mejorar mi salud! Llevo varios años lidiando con una afección de la tiroides que ha sido un verdadero lastre para mí... Constantemente cansada y aletargada, irritable, con el corazón acelerado, dificultad para respirar y, quizás el síntoma más deliberado, la incapacidad de subir de peso. Durante más de 4 años, mantuve un peso constante de 50 kg, sin importar nada que hiciera...
Sin embargo, por la gracia de Dios, y en tan solo un mes, ¡he logrado subir 9 kg! 🙏 Voy a seguir subiendo 9 kg más, rezando para que Dios me acompañe en cada paso del camino.

My final resolution is to simply be grateful for my family and soaking up all of the time that we have together! ❤️ My family has been my biggest blessing, my greatest treasure, and I want to continue to grow it. However, I need to be actively improving myself so that my children receive the best version of myself possible. I have two little girls who are looking up to me, to see what it means not only to be a good mother, but a good WOMAN as well. I need to be a positive influence for my children! 🙏

Mi propósito final es simplemente agradecer a mi familia y disfrutar de todo el tiempo que tenemos juntos. ❤️ Mi familia ha sido mi mayor bendición, mi mayor tesoro, y quiero seguir ampliándola. Sin embargo, necesito mejorar activamente para que mis hijos reciban la mejor versión de mí misma. Tengo dos niñas pequeñas que me admiran, para que vean lo que significa no solo ser una buena madre, sino también una buena MUJER. ¡Necesito ser una influencia positiva para mis hijos! 🙏
