LOH Contest #261: My Dream Job?... (ENG-ESP)

I have always wanted to go to Japan 😍🇯🇵... Ever since I was 15, in my first year of high school, and was immediately introduced to anime, Vocaloid, and Japanese Rock, I have had such a fascination with Japanese culture. Whether if I were to simply pay a visit, or to have the privilege to live there, I would love to have the honor to do either! 😃

Siempre he querido ir a Japón 😍🇯🇵... Desde que tenía 15 años, en mi primer año de preparatoria, cuando descubrí el anime, Vocaloid y el rock japonés, me ha fascinado la cultura japonesa. Ya sea una simple visita o tener el privilegio de vivir allí, ¡me encantaría tener el honor de hacerlo! 😃

So, if I was given the opportunity to have my dream job in Japan, of course, I would seize the day!~ ✊️ However, taking my family into the equation, and knowing that we would be separated for an extended period of time, definitely makes the situation less desirable... Two years... 730 days...

Así que, si tuviera la oportunidad de trabajar en Japón, ¡por supuesto que la aprovecharía! ✊️ Sin embargo, teniendo en cuenta a mi familia y sabiendo que estaríamos separados durante un largo periodo de tiempo, la situación se vuelve mucho menos atractiva... Dos años... 730 días...

My husband and I currently have two children together: 4 and 2-years-old. Not to mention, I am currently 16 weeks pregnant! 😂 So, I would be leaving our three children behind, one of whom would only be several months old! 🥺 I would miss two years of their lives, and countless milestones... Our oldest will be 6 -- about to start school! 😭 Our middle child will be speaking in full sentences, telling us all of her likes and dislikes... And our youngest, I would miss everything! 😭😭 Eating solid foods, smiling, crawling, their first words... These are things that you cannot place a value; they are irreplaceable...

Mi esposo y yo tenemos dos hijos: uno de 4 años y otro de 2. ¡Y estoy embarazada de 16 semanas! 😂 Así que tendría que dejar a nuestros tres hijos, ¡uno de ellos con solo unos meses! 🥺 Me perdería dos años de sus vidas e incontables momentos importantes... Nuestro hijo mayor tendrá 6 años y pronto empezará el colegio. 😭 Nuestra hija mediana hablará con frases completas y nos contará lo que le gusta y lo que no... ¡Y de la pequeña, me lo perdería todo! 😭😭 Comer sólidos, sonreír, gatear, sus primeras palabras... Son cosas que no tienen precio; son irremplazables...

Then, our children aside, there is my husband. My husband and I have known each other for several years, and within this time, we have hardly spent any time apart! We have been together every single day. My husband and I are self-employed and have always been in a very fortunate position to spend each day with one another, and with our children. The reason why we have taken this position to begin with, is because WE NEVER WANT TO MISS A MOMENT WITH OUR FAMILY 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 We realize that family is the most important thing in the world.

Además de nuestros hijos, está mi esposo. Nos conocemos desde hace varios años y, en todo este tiempo, ¡casi no nos hemos separado! Hemos estado juntos todos los días. Mi esposo y yo trabajamos por cuenta propia y siempre hemos tenido la gran fortuna de poder pasar cada día juntos, tanto el uno con el otro como con nuestros hijos. La razón por la que elegimos esta situación es porque NO QUEREMOS PERDERNOS NI UN MOMENTO CON NUESTRA FAMILIA. Sabemos que la familia es lo más importante del mundo.

So, bearing all of this in my mind, my answer is ultimately, no. Regardless of the employment, regardless of the location, there is no price that could be paid, no opportunity to be given, that could make me abandon my family for this definite amount of time. Two years is a very long time, and while I'm sure that I would make rewarding friendships while abroad, no friendship can replace the bond one has with their family. And, let's be honest, while technological advancements have been astronomical, video calls still aren't a replacement for the real thing! 🥺💔

Así que, teniendo todo esto en cuenta, mi respuesta es, en definitiva, no. Independientemente del trabajo, independientemente del lugar, no hay precio que pagar, ni oportunidad que ofrecer, que me haga abandonar a mi familia durante tanto tiempo. Dos años es muchísimo tiempo, y aunque estoy segura de que haría amistades valiosas en el extranjero, ninguna amistad puede reemplazar el vínculo con la familia. Y, seamos sinceros, aunque los avances tecnológicos han sido increíbles, ¡las videollamadas aún no sustituyen a las reales! 🥺💔
