Just Jones (A Book Chock-full of Wisdom!)

I shall be blunt -- this wasn't a particularly interesting story πŸ˜… It is one of those books that simply reports on the hum drum life of a quiet town. In this case, we are situated in Orange Beach, Alabama. There are some interesting characters though, most notably Jones, whom the novel is named after. And that's JUST Jones! Not "Mr. Jones!"

Again, nothing particularly interesting happens in the book lol. Basically, this Jones fella attempts to help those who are conflicted in life. He once helped a young man who was homeless get back on his feet. Jones helps a young woman in prison, and gives her a fresh start, working at his shop. Jones also helps a young boy navigate his troubling teenage years, and becomes a father figure to him.

Some mishaps take place along the way: the teenage boy stinks up his school with deer urine for one, and he also pulls some harmless pranks on their neighborhood witch! 🀣 But, other than that, it is a very boring book...

However, it DID offer me some nuggets of wisdom! I would like to share the most memorable ones with you...

"'When a life is spinning out of control, few things bring reality into utter focus as effectively as a jail cell. Oftentimes, it is LACK of PROPER focus that allows a life to spin out of control in the first place.'"

"'Keep your head fixed on principles that will guide your life. Otherwise, your mind and body will drift, and you won't know it until it's too late.'"

"Kidding yourself -- believing and reinforcing things that are untrue -- serves only to banish hope and joy from your present life."

"The goal is to be ... baked through the industrial conveyor ovens of middle and high school in order to be inspected at the other end and labeled a 'perfect cookie.'"

"It is a common misconception that everybody deserves a second chance. ... In fact, considering the human condition and our many sins, MOST of us do not deserve one.'"

"'When a society allows feelings to determine its truth, trouble is on the immediate horizon.'"

"'Water -- like a life without purpose -- always flows downstream.'"

Anyway, that will do it for this review! πŸ™ My condition has somewhat been improving -- not throwing up nearly as much! πŸ˜„ And in a few weeks time, we will finally find out if we're having a baby boy or girl! β€οΈπŸ’™ Until next time, happy reading, everybody! πŸ“š
