He is Sufficient
Mark 9:14-24
How do we explain that God, who performs the miracle, still has the ability to help our faith in order to receive it from him? What a God! We have no excuse for not receiving from God whatever it is. At times, we reach out to God in faith, and our faith works, and we see results. Other times, we try our best to build faith, but unbelief wouldn’t let us. Even the small faith of mustard seed that Jesus spoke about sometimes isn’t there. What happens then?
In these cases, we have an option, and that is to cry for help. We have examples throughout the scriptures where men had to cry out to the owner of faith for help. Peter cried out when he failed him. The man in this passage cried out, and at a point, Jesus’ disciples cried for help too. These examples are for our learning so that we don’t die in silence when our faith fails us. That is why we have a God who is sufficient in all ways; he is willing to help every unbelief in us until we grow to be like him in faith.
Therefore, at every moment of weakness in faith, let us cry out our all to God, declaring our vulnerability as humans. This is not an indication of weakness but an expression of dependency on our source and sustainer. Imagine if we had to go through a rigorous process when our faith failed in order to regain faith, but God saved us that stress and put everything in one. He is both the source and the sustainer.
God, we trust in you with all we have. Please help our unbelief.
