RE: Song Inspired Paintings
You are viewing a single comment's thread:
An interesting coincidence. I listen to Omega all the time, for a couple of weeks now. It was one of my favorite bands in my youth, the 70s. I saw that a painting was inspired by an Omega song. I liked the exhibition, I liked the paintings, I can say they are better than I expected, being probably younger artists, less known to me anyway. Not that I know them all, I know well that I am already out of touch with reality, I mean I am not aware of what is happening now.
I've seen that you've been posting about art, exhibitions, fairs, and especially painting for a long time. Good choice... I have to admit that I tried a lot not to copy other people's ideas, but this time I started posting about exhibitions as well. I don't know if this topic is well supported by communities like Photography Lovers or Pinmapple and I can't find one that fits better. You probably don't either. If you have any better ideas and can recommend them to me... thanks anyway!
You took me back an age now when a friend of mine had me to listen to "High on the highway". I think we also listened to the native lyrics version of it which had a funny title for non native ones like us. Thanks for undusting the memory 🙂
I had to look it up, I didn't know what "High on the highway" was. I found out. I didn't catch this music. It was and is my son's favorite. I was into rock. I listened to it and liked it, High on the Highway. I think it's in the cult area of rap if this music is rap. I'm glad I brought back memories to you, music always brings back memories and nostalgia for me...
It's good to see someone knows who Omega is. They are legends but unfortunately not my type of music.
I don't know. Seeing the music he was inspired by, it gives me the feeling he's not so young, but who knows. Actually, I ran a search and turns out the artist was born in 1953, so I was right.
Posting about art and exhibitions, like others, it doesn't mean you copy their idea. No one has the copyright over posting about exhibitions, fairs and other things. You go to one exhibition, I go to a totally different one and we write about our own experiences. If we would go to the same exhibition and take photos of the same artworks, from the same angle and writing the same text, that would be copying. Otherwise it's not.
Define what you mean by well supported? There's a difference between support and meeting the requirements. Art photos are welcome in the Photography Lovers community as long as they fit the requirements, like be the author of the photo, try to post quality photos, not blurry ones and so on (what it is described in the rule section). I'm not looking for support here, that's not the reason I post in this community. Support is a complex matter and community has less to do with it, unless you post in the wrong one and get downvoted. If you're referring to featuring art posts in the HotShot compilation post, don't expect to see mine in there as I'm not going to nominate my posts. If Castleberry does it, I can't stop him, but I'm never going to nominate my work. Yours is a different matter. Feel free to post about art and exhibitions in Photography Lovers.
Pinmapple is good if it's a permanent exhibition, but if you post about the same place every two weeks or every month, it'll be frowned upon I suppose.
I hope this helps. If not, feel free to ask any question you have and have a nice week.
Thank you, @erikah!
I try to be brief because I know that you are involved in many activities and I think that time is very valuable for you.
I am glad that I will be able to post images from exhibitions and museums in Photography Lovers.
Well, regarding my taste in music, it depends on what I do. If I'm working, I prefer slow, relaxing jazz as it helps me focus. But my main genre is EDM. If I'm walking or need some energy, then EDM is my fuel.
Regarding posting in Photography Lovers, you're right, the quality of the photograph is the main focus. You can take quality photos at an exhibition as well, s you're welcome to post there.
I got old. I lost my insight. I was also wrong with the age of the painter inspired by music (he is only a year older than me), I was also wrong with your favorite music. Thank you so much, @erikah, for revealing your preferences to me. With every conversation or post I learn something new. I don't know what EDM is. I will look for it and I have a feeling that I will like it.
Hey, don't beat yourself up over this. It's not a big deal, we're wrong on so many things several times every day :) EDM is short for Electronic Dance Music. And you're right, we learn something new every day and Hive is contributing to that quite a lot.
Thank you. It was an extremely enjoyable and useful discussion, reminds me of the old days before Hive. EDM, I understand now. I've been listening lately too, inspired by what my son listens to. I choose such music, or jazz, as you say you like it too, because I listen to music while writing for Hive, and when sorting and editing photos. I prefer instrumental music because when there are lyrics, they don't let me concentrate on writing.
