Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: 9 New CA Abilities!
Hello! This post is for Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. In this post, I will be thoroughly ranking each new abilities of Conclave Arcana, which is a new set following Rebellion. In total, there are 9 new abilities!
I haven't been playing splinterlands for a while, so I was surprised about the new set's presale happening. I might be buying some of the packs, but that is going to be in another separate post.
Now, let's look at the new abilities!
These are the 9 new abilities (in Conclave Arcana):
Bloodline Dominion
Bloodline Tribute
Final Rest
Painforge
Relentless Strike
Resurgence
Reveal
Shapeshift
Reckless
Bloodline Dominion: You can summon any unit of the same bloodline as this archon, regardless of element.
Bloodline is a new feature added in Conclave Arena. Each unit has its own Bloodline, and the archons (summoners) in this set all have this ability. With this feature, they can additionally summon units that have the same bloodline as the archon. Furthermore, they will get extra buffs from the summoner.
My opinion: This is definitely a very good ability to use. It seems like all Rare summoners have this ability, and This means that while it costs only 4 mana, they have both (almost) Dual Element and buff ability. This would mean that using Rebellion summoners is going to be a disadvantage against CA archons in most cases.
Bloodline Tribute: When defeated, all allied units of the same bloodline gain +1 health, speed, and armor and +1 power to each shared attack type.
This ability also utilizes Bloodline feature, and it is similar to the Martyr ability. However, this buffs all allied units with the same bloodline, giving it +1 health, speed, and armor. However, it only gives +1 to the shared attack types.
My Opinion: This is going to be mostly better than martyr, but there might be cases where it might be worse. With the CA archons being able to summon the same Bloodline regardless of the element, unit this ability will mostly be mostly considered strong in my opinion.
Final Rest: Allied and enemy abilities that trigger on defeat cannot activate.
This ability, on the other hand, counters abilities like Martyr, Resurrect, and Bloodline Tribute, by being unable to trigger those kinds of abilities.
My Opinion: It also seems a good ability to have against Martyr decks like Iziar, but according to the description it also seems to block friendly unit's abilities, which seems interesting to me. Maybe this could be exclusively in summoners?
Painforge: +1 power when damaged by Poisoned or Burning or hit by an ally.
A very straightforward ability, which gains +1 power when poisoned, burned, or hit by an ally (using damaging abilities).
My Opinion: This might have the best potential out of all cards. By using this card, the "punishing" ability suddenly makes your units more powerful. This also synergies well with Reckless ability below.
Relentless Strike: Attacks deal true damage. Phase and Dodge do not reduce chance to hit.
It is True Strike, but it ignores all other damage control, meaning that the base attack is damaged to the opponent, ignoring abilities like Shield, Void, Forcefield.
My Opinion: Another VERY top-tier ability, especially with high attack units. This ability is True Strike but better. The ability to ignore the defensive abilities like Void and especially Forcefield is so great, as well as True Strike. The only downside is that abilities like Deathblow, Giant Killer won't work.
Resurgence: Self-resurrects once per battle with 100% health and armor. All magic debuffs are removed, and all magic buffs are reapplied. Skips turn. Deals 1 physical damage to all units.
It is self-resurrect ability, with 100% health and armor as well as buffs applied. Also, it comes with a cost of skipping a turn, and dealing 1 damage to friendly units.
My Opinion: Just better than Resurrect ability. You have to skip a turn and deal 1 damage, but if you can revive your tank with 100% health, it is going to be so great. Also it synergizes with Painforge.
Reveal: Each round applies Revealed to a Camouflaged enemy unit. Revealed units can be targeted by direct attacks.
It counters Camouflaged enemy units by making them targetable. That's all.
My Opinion: This ability is not really great when you don't have a lot of units that can target the backline. With some Opportunity, Snipe, Sneak attackers, it would be more powerful. But it is bad against no Camouflage though.
Shapeshift: Treated as all bloodlines.
You can be any bloodline!
My Opinion: Might be OP since you can get all individual bloodline buffs at the same time. Also you can be played with any CA summoners and still get the same buff!
Reckless: Each successful attack also deals 1 damage to adjacent allied units.
My Opinion: Painforge units definitely need this unit on their side for more attack. On its own, this is not that punishing, since it only affects 2 units a little bit. Additionally, you can also use Martyr or Bloodline Tribute for buffs, as they will take damage.
Conclusion
And that is all 9 abilities! These abilities seem to be really exciting to use, and personally some of them seems to be really powerful. But, I don't think these abilities are really game-breaking though.
