Tublay View Deck: Worth the Detour in the Mountains of Benguet

Good evening, and happy Sunday, y'all amazing people!
Okay, so you might remember my last post about our epic Christmas Day hike to Mount Olis in Atok, Benguet. Well, before we reached the stunning mountain views of Atok, we had a little detour. A completely unplanned but utterly delightful side trip to Tublay View Deck. Our journey started in San Juan, La Union (where we live). With Boomer, our spoiled brat adopted German Shepherd, in tow, we traveled on a scenic two-hour drive to Tublay. Now, Boomer's usually a pretty well-behaved travel buddy, but the zigzag roads of the mountain pass tested his patience. Poor guy whimpered a bit, but overall, he was a champ. I swear, that dog has better road-trip manners than some humans I know!
We arrived at the Tublay View Deck around 8:00 AM. The sun was still gentle, the air deliciously cool, and the view? Let's just say it stole my breath away. Majestic mountains stretched as far as the eye could see, their peaks kissed by the morning light. It was one of those moments that makes you feel incredibly small yet completely connected to the vastness and beauty of nature. It was simply majestic. The weather was absolutely perfect. That cool, crisp mountain air was a welcome change from the humidity of La Union. It was the kind of weather that makes you want to breathe deeply and just be. And Boomer? He was in heaven. The moment we opened the car doors, he exploded into a flurry of zoomies, his giant body a blur of happy energy as he raced across the view deck, his tail wagging furiously. He was truly living his best life.
My husband and Boomer became the stars of the show, striking countless poses for the camera. I was their official photographer, snapping away as they explored the view deck, Boomer sniffing every inch of the mountain air and my husband attempting various poses (which, let me tell you, were hilarious). We captured some truly memorable moments—Boomer's sheer joy, my husband's slightly awkward attempts at mountain-man poses, and the stunning backdrop of the majestic mountains. It was a perfect blend of nature's beauty and family fun. My daughter was in the, so she has no photos in here. Sigh that kid!
We spent a little less than an hour at the view deck, just soaking in the atmosphere. The quiet hum of the mountains, the gentle breeze rustling through the trees, and the occasional chirp of a bird—it was incredibly peaceful. It was the perfect antidote to the hectic pace of our lives. We took a few more photos, capturing the details of the view deck itself—the painted steel railings, the lush greenery surrounding it, and the stunning panorama stretching out before us. Before we knew it, it was time to move on. We had a date with Mount Olis and its flower farms, but our stop at Tublay View Deck was a highlight of the trip. It was a reminder that sometimes, the best adventures are the unplanned ones, the ones that take you off the beaten path and lead you to unexpected moments of beauty and joy. And, of course, it was a reminder of Boomer's undeniable charm and his ability to bring a smile to everyone's face.
It was a fantastic trip, really. Seriously, that place is magic! The views were stunning, Boomer almost had a heart attack from excitement (in a good way!), and we all felt completely refreshed after our visit. We're already plotting our return trip. Tublay, get ready for us again!
If you're ever planning a trip to Benguet, I highly recommend adding Tublay View Deck to your itinerary. It's a perfect spot to stretch your legs, take in some breathtaking views, and let the beauty of nature fill your soul. And remember, sometimes, the best memories are made on the side of the road, during an unplanned stop, with a dog who just can't contain his excitement.
