Hivebeecon main event || creating new memories and reliving the KBK experience

(Edited)

I always knew KBK, but this time, at the hivebeecon, it was different. It is hard to put feelings into words, especially for me. So believe me when I use brevity and say this event was special. Extremely special.

How many attendees? More than ten. (If you know, you know. 😉)

I have been to a couple of hive meet-ups now, but hivebeecon was different. I had the chance to meet people who weren't on Hive, people who knew about Hive because of KBK but aren't on the chain, and people who I knew from the chain but could finally meet in person. Hivebeecon has been the most "intimate" meetup I have been to.

After our salt mine excursion, we took a brief walk from the main station at Krakow to the KBK. If you'd like to visit the place, you can check it out on pinmapple and guide yourself from the station.

During that walk, while being encompassed in a very captivating conversation, which taught me a lot about a topic I knew nothing about, I was getting excited. I had walked these streets last year, the same route, with @hallmann. However, this time, the feeling was so different.

The event had already officially kicked off. Hallmann was being himself. Which meant him running around, organizing the place, cleaning up, making chocolate, talking to people, hosting guests, showing people how to pay for drinks with Hive or HBD, and enjoying the event...all at the same time. What a guy.

At first, I thought the venue would be very cramped for so many people, roughly 30-50(?). But it was nothing less than pleasant. The location has gone through some design changes in the last year and a half, and it is much bigger now.

There wasn't a single dull moment during the Hivebeecon.

I spoke to @mynewlife about his videography work and wanted to understand a little better about his role in all of it. He gave me a whole new perspective, which was a little challenged, I must say. But during that conversation, I also saw some of his work, which is super cool. I hope everyone gets to see them!

Among the best conversations I had was at the table where the chocolate-making process was shown. I met two special people who I have been looking forward to meeting for a long time. @Jocieprosza had contacted me when I was in Poland last year. Although I didn't have the privilege back then, I could now finally put a face to his name, and I wish I could see him again.

Funnily, the kitchen was the most active social zone. Why? How would I know? But it was!

I say it is funny because I would go to grab something to drink and end up chatting with someone or the other.
Like when Hallmann, I, @m31 and @lemony-cricket ended up talking about projects on hive, the effects of words we use, the small things that can create a bad impression for the chain, and of course KBK.
I bought my drinks with KBK's token (rcrt can be bought on tribaldex btw), and I still think KBK is by far the best model of tangible use cases that we chase to obtain on the chain.
It does simulate a closed-loop economy by itself and generates growth and competitiveness as well as welcomes outsiders to the chain. Afaik, kbk is the only physical location that runs on hive and brings back value to the chain.

The kitchen is also where I felt at home for a bit. It is always nice to talk in our own language with @zirochka. Although we didn't go in-depth, it felt nice to talk about home and the people.

And of course, @phortun, who I have been planning to meet for so long, but I could meet him at the hivebeecon. How did I recognize him? I'll let that remain a secret forever. I have my ways 😎. But we have to go with @deepresearch to the open-air gyms!

Talking about meeting people. It took me only roughly a year and a half of living in the Netherlands and then flying to Poland to meet another Dutchie! @edje. We didn't talk much, but he did throw some valuable insight that could help my approach with the local council in regard to the Ukrainian refugee programs.

Talking about passion. Conversations had taken off way before reaching KBK. For instance, @ph1102, @llunasoul, @growandbow, and I had pretty insightful chats about modern medicine, big pharma, and so on. And of course, their talks about culture and regions were interesting. As a non-European, it is always intriguing to me.

@lpa has a lot to add to the chain. However, he has always been a tad bit shy to share his expertise. Hivebeecon was the perfect chance to present the hive community to him. Hopefully, people remember Lorenzo, and from what I hear, he feels much more confident to be on the chain now.

Hivebeecon brought worlds together. There wasn't an end to the topics we had that could be discussed. And to me, that sounds like a productive hive meetup. We all come from different walks of life, and hive brings us together. I learned a lot from @Livinguktaiwan's husband. From their experiences with helping Ukrainians as well as his take on the Hong Kong situation and world politics. I don't want to go into details, but he left me with a view of how to proceed, or at least understand the philosophy behind it.

It was fun making up rules with Stephan and watching @delishtreats shake her head at us. "This has never happened in the history of this game", he said. The history of the game being one uncompleted match. Good stuff.

I finally received my 1/1 physical NFT from @hive.aid in person. This is from Nov 2022. At the time I was the highest donator to hive.aid, having given over 300 hive and 11 HBD to support Ukraine through KBK. The difference between other channels and hive.aid is that I got a physical NFT, unique in every sense, handcrafted and hand-painted. It still stands today at the KBK for others to look at and hopefully be inspired.

I want to thank @gtg, who put this event together. We wouldn't have so much fun together if it wasn't for hivebeecon. As a token of appreciation for everyone who attended the event and a commemoration of the first hivebeecon, I want to give everyone this:

This is a fully hand sketched design. Marking the first hivebeecon, held at Krakow. The red and white colour scheme pays tribute to Poland, the bee and hive to HiveBee from HiveBeecon, St. Mary's Basilica - a cornerstone of Krakow embossed into the badge - and "blocks" in the shape of hives signifying the people that attended the event. The blocks represent both blocks of the chain and the decentralized dependency on holding it together.

If you're mentioned in this post, then you'll have received the NFT in your collection over at @nftshowroom. Thank you for making HiveBeeCon so special.

@anialavender, @asia-pl, @blind-spot, @deepresearch, @delishtreats, @dobranoc, @edje, @ergorg, @evelynchacin, @growandbow, @gtg, @hallmann, @hiacynt, @jocieprosza, @justynao, @karyon, @lemony-cricket, @litosci, @livinguktaiwan, @llunasoul, @lpa, @m31, @mipiano, @mtyszczak, @mynewlife, @osavi, @ph1102, @phortun, @prawdawtvmowili, @priyanarc, @psypek, @szejq, @szmulkberg, @thebeedevs, @zirochka

It was lovely meeting you again @blind-spot. Whilst I understand things are still not quite settled for you in the Netherlands, sounds like it's all going in the correct direction, and hopefully you will achieve your aim very soon. Remember UK, if you ever need it.

This is a fully hand sketched design

So this is your surprise!! Now I have to figure out how to get it. Thanks

Ps please add HiveBeeCon tag to your post to make it easier for people to find

I am very happy that we could meet again! I hope there will be more opportunities in future. And they will be more frequent. A year and a half is a bit too long. You are always welcome in the Kingdom!

PS. Andrii has KBK deposit named "karyon", but I think @karyon on Hive is not Andrii, because Andrii is not from India ;)

I will always look for chances to come and visit the kingdom. Thanks for having me and hosting the hivebeecon.

Looks like Andrii will have to tell us his real account. And in any case, karyon can have a nft in his account :)

Told ya I wouldn't miss your post. Gosh, I love the design and just seeing it melt my heart. The bee looks so beautiful.

This was a fun read. I chuckled while reading.

Funnily, the kitchen was the most active social zone. Why? How would I know?

Also, it'll be nice to know how phorton. Hehe, it sounds like you are a secret agent of some sort and that's cool.

I can't imagine your feeling when you returned to the place that was your shelter when you were going through the bad days... But, as you said, all these beautiful Hivians gave you a different perspective and so much love and positivity in the air! I enjoyed every second of this meetup!
Thank you for the NFT and thank you for your company! See you at the next one!

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project which will be highlighted in the next post!

This time was truly magical because no one had any idea if people would actually show up and if the event would really happen.

You can see other attendees POV's if you check the #hivebeecon tag.

You won't believe me, but I was just looking at tickets to Prague. I'm so glad I met you man. You are an awesome person to be around.

And we will surely go to the open gyms!

You dont have to do anything extra for the nft. Just log in to nftshowroom frontend with keychain or posting key and you will see it in your collections!

Cool, thanks :) Those outdoor gyms... Here is the one I use here in Prague now:

And when we lived in Krakow, I used to go here:

https://hive.blog/hive-101690/@phortun/workout-update-some-photos-my-current-maxes

Both pretty cool places. I hope to work out with you at either of them one day, big boy :)

Dude! These are incredible. They actually have weights and everything!

The one closest to where I stay has no weights, so it is pretty useless. The other "outdoor gyms" are just monkey bars. Not even real calisthenics gyms.

Yeah, I know. These places with just bars are mushrooming everywhere these days but I´m really glad that in both cities where I have lived lately, there were these cool gyms with actual weights and dumbbells too. But try to google it out, there might be some near your place as well ;)

Thank you for visiting my last post, it has given me the opportunity to come to your blog and discover that you were also present in Krakow, I am very happy for you. At the moment for me it's just a dream to be able to meet so many people from Hive from places so far away from mine, in fact you didn't mention it here, but you must have coincided with my friend mipiano, I even saw that she played in this intimate meeting.

In your blog I noticed something that I haven't seen in other people's posts and that is that you took the time to photograph the ceiling several times, I already loved the place, it seems to be small, but at the same time I can see that everyone came in and was at ease, but the ceiling lined with so many press or magazine clippings looks great and makes me love that space even more from a distance. You write with so much passion brother, I feel like I have lived the experience with you...

You're most welcome to check out all the posts. Everyone has something or the other unique in their posts. Some personal stories, some personal takes. It was a really beautiful event. I missed @mipiano 's concert, but I hope I will attend one sooner or later.

I hope maybe some day we, hivers, will also attend one of your concerts (I specifically want to hear the Arabic and Russian works haha)

That would be wonderful. The group where I sing has had concerts on 5 continents, in fact it has performed in several European countries, but I wasn't there yet. At the moment I think I will visit Mexico next month, and it's a trip that was supposed to take place in August but was postponed. I thought it would coincide with the Hive Fest, I was even excited talking to eddiespino, but as I always say, the time will come. Here in Venezuela there are a lot of local meetings too...

I say it is funny because I would go to grab something to drink and end up chatting with someone or the other.

It happened the same to me! I spent all the time in the kitchen :P But you know, best parties are always in the kitchen!
really nice meeting you, really nice chats 🙏🏽

It was indeed nice to be able to talk a bit and I was totally surprised when I heard a Dutch word or two. we didn't talk much, but in the end, we live both not far away in this country of the lowlands.

A physical NFT, how cool!

and you know, the Kitchen was a strategic place. The possibility to be kinda part of both rooms. Must be THE reason why that little 'room' was a favourite one. Jampacked like being the first row in a standing concert, or festival 😂

We live very close, and maybe that was a subconscious signal to me. I might have had the idea that the chance to meet each other and pick your brain is higher compared to others. That could be the reason I couldn't talk to you much.

You're right. The strategic advantage must be the reason haha
