Hello and welcome to Praise and Worship Week 69! My name is @blezzysteve, and I will be singing a cover of "Goodness of God" by CeCe Winans.

First and foremost, I'd like to say that it's been a while since I was here, and I'm so excited to be back with you all in this vibrant community. It feels great to reconnect and share in this space once again. A special thank you goes out to the entire team for your tireless efforts in keeping this community standing strong and thriving. Your dedication truly makes a difference. And to @stefy.music, thank you profoundly for all you do, for your incredible initiative, and for your unwavering leadership. Your commitment inspires us all, and I wish you more strength as you continue to guide us.

In this week's concert, the powerful theme is renewal. As much as I can, I will do my best to relate my song choice, "Goodness of God," to this profound concept. Simply put, "renewal" can mean to continue or resume something that was interrupted. Think of it like picking up a project you had to put down for a while, or resuming a journey after a necessary pause. It can also be seen as an act of extending the validity period of something important—it could be a license that needs updating, a subscription you wish to keep active, or even a contract that requires an extension to remain valid. In essence, it's about bringing something back to life, or ensuring its continued existence and relevance.

When we speak of renewal in the Christian faith, the meaning takes on an even deeper spiritual dimension. Here, renewal signifies being transformed into a new being, or being restored to a better state—spiritually, morally, and in every other aspect of one's life. This profound process involves an individual consciously striving to make their way right with God. It means actively seeking to know God's will and purpose for their life, aligning their path with divine guidance. This transformative journey often involves a deliberate departure from old habits and practices that are contrary to God's ways. This includes leaving behind actions such as fornication, drunkenness, lies, and all sorts of things that may displease God (Ephesians 4:22-24, Colossians 3:9-10). It's a commitment to shedding the old self and embracing a new, God-honoring way of living.

The song "Goodness of God" beautifully articulates how God is always merciful to us, consistently demonstrating His goodness and faithfulness to His words (Psalm 100:5, Lamentations 3:22-23). Indeed, God Himself is a profound inspiration for renewal. If we take the time to sit down and truly reminisce on what God has done for us—His past acts of deliverance, provision, and love—it profoundly inspires us to want to renew our lives for His service. This reflection ignites a desire within us to live in a way that honors His boundless love.

When we find ourselves in doubt or crisis, perhaps feeling overwhelmed by the struggles and challenges of life on earth, a heartfelt reminder of God's goodness provides a powerful hope of renewal (Romans 15:13). The goodness of God always sits as a constant reminder to us all that there is always hope, always something to look forward to, with the promise of better days ahead of us. It dispels despair and fills us with confidence.

Being able to trust God wholly in His goodness—trusting Him for our financial needs, our health, and our spiritual well-being—can greatly aid the renewal of believers. This deep trust encourages them to want to change their ways, fully believing and trusting that God will provide and sustain them through every circumstance (Philippians 4:19).

Consider the incredible truth of knowing that God is always there to forgive us our sins, showing us mercy in times when we truly don't deserve it. He does not give us what we really deserve for our transgressions, but instead, He offers us an opposite reaction. Instead of the punishment we might expect, we tend to receive blessings (Psalm 103:10-11, Romans 5:8). This divine mercy is a cornerstone of our ability to experience genuine renewal, freeing us from the burdens of guilt and shame, and empowering us to walk in newness of life.
