Greetings Dear Readers;
.
.
Hope you are well.
What a Principle......shall we give it a look?
'A problem must be identified before a solution can be determined.'
Many times we may be aware that something is amiss...but have no idea what the problem really is. Rest assured once we have identified the problem...it is amazing how quickly we can go about getting it sorted.
Another way to state the Principle...'Once a problem is identified, a solution is better understood.'
Let's take a look at a classic superficial problem category....which will be a stranger to none...how about 'Plumbing'...is there anything that says mystery like a leak....no one knows from which it came....is it a broken pipe?...a dripping tap?...etc. etc. Time to ring a plumber, he identifies the problem and then a solution is presented.
What if the course taken was simply to replace the ceiling...the problem/the source was never identified....so what happens ...the problem occurs again and again. Metaphorically speaking...in order to solve the problem ...do we need to find the leak or repair the ceiling?
Most problems are anything but superficial but the principle remains the same.
How many times have we been in meetings and asked ourselves ....what is it we are trying to solve anyway?
Let's give this Principle a think.....shall we.

I love this principle! First you need to know (find out) what you actually want, and only then you should think about how to reach that aim!
Nice to read from you again after quite a while @bleujay!
Greetings @gen-quimba ,
Lovely to hear from you....thank you for dropping by.
Happy to hear your thoughts regarding the principle....that's it. ^__^
Thank you for your kind words...it is good to be back.
Kind Regards,
Bleujay
Indeed, a problem is not a problem when we don't recognize a situation as a problem. I've been in houses with plumbing issues and sometimes, taking care of them can be a mystery.
Beautiful shots of the flowers.
Greetings @josediccus ,
How very kind of you to drop by...aprreciate your kind reply.
So true....plumbing is quite the mystery.
Kind Regards,
Bleujay
You surprised me today @bleujay, I saw Hellebores flowers for the first time, strange, I've never seen them before.
Very interesting texture and structure of flowers, I'll have to google it :)
Your watercolor is as always lively and calm, correct!
Regarding the principle... sometimes people don't look for the origins of the problem, it can be a scary or hateful occupation... for example, when problems arise because I, or someone else, does not want to go where God tells us to go, and to understand this is to agree with God and do something by contradiction, like in mathematics, or like Jonah refused to go to Nineveh :)

Greetings @barski ,
Hellebores have quite an ardent following and there are quite a few different colours. Happy to have introduced you to them as they are one of the first harbingers of Spring....right along with the Snow Drops.
Thank you for your kind complimentary words with regard to the Watercolour.
So true with regard to the Principle!
Kind Regards to you and your family,
Bleujay
It's nice to know that there is always something I don't know :)

Ever since going through ITIL training and certification back in my corporate days, I think about problems and the process a little more clinically.
I tend to isolate the issues that indicate there might be a problem that would need to be solved. Kinda like collecting all of the symptoms in order to diagnose the problem. Sometimes there are multiple problems that have to be addressed too.
Sometimes, for sure we have to collect and analyze the issues to trace it back to the problem. Then, we can more clearly address the problem to reduce or eliminate the issues.
I find my laziness (or need to be efficient to avoid unnecessary work ;) makes me resistant to people who come up with solutions in search of a problem. That’s probably another discussion though.
Greetings @zekepickleman ,
What an excellent response to the Principle.
So true...especially the clinical bit and the categorical approach...it is part and parcel of problem solving.
You wrote "...who come up with solutions in search of a problem." Thank you for the smiles. ^__^

The plumber example is really good, you have a leak, but if you don't know where is it from, how can you solve it?
Beautiful plant aswell!

Greetings @deeanndmathews ,
Hope you are well.
I have a request. Please look at Bleujay's incoming votes....there is a strange and unwelcome slew of seemingly fraudulent accounts and no value votes...about seventy or more...apparantly a trail of sorts....no avatars, seemingly repetitive names with different numbers.
I present this query to you as I recall this type of activity was a subject of discussion a couple of months ago on Snaps between you and others.
Do you know of anyone who is looking out for this type of activity and would be interested?
Kindest Regards, Bleujay
Possibly Acidyo or TheMarkyMark ... but be advised: inviting a whale or two into such a case often leads to them downvoting out the "bad votes" as opposed to getting to the root of the problem, which then affects your reputation and visibility. In fairness, we know there is a bot attack going on Hive right now, so that might be a bot trail building itself slowly with their tiny votes. BUT, owing to Hive's mechanism, their votes are dust votes and do not pay much of a curation reward. There's also an entire account and supporters that owing to past history has been muted pretty much out of existence in terms of content production, but still votes as it can to try to bring some attention to what it believes is unfair treatment in favor of bigger accounts and trails that are growing.
Thank you @deeanndmathews for your kind and thorough reply.
Very helpful information...I will look through your objective lens at these matters.
No one likes to be helpless but helpless we are..... ^__^

Indeed ... but we know One with all power ... I pray about Hive a lot ... there is a LOT going on ... but I'm just tasked to do what He tells me, and leave the rest with Him.
So true...yes...indeed.
As soon as I wrote the word 'Helpless'....I thought the same. ^__^
I do as well....thank you!
I'm glad that's how you remember my involvement when you were being countered for the xeldal votes and I wasted a lot of time trying to come up with a solution to the problem.
Thank you for all you do @acidyo ...Appreciate it very much!

Thank you for dropping by @thehockeyfan-at .
I enjoyed seeing your photos of the Hellebores in the decorative ceramic vase/pitcher.
You always do such nice watercolors. That is a very sweet representation of the Snowdrop.
It is true I think that you have to recognize the problem in order to discern a correct solution. Sometimes I think people don't look back far enough for the core problem and try to make solutions on something that is only a symptom, which can't be fixed that way.
It is always good to give a little extra thought on these things.
Greetings Jacey,
What a splendid comment! Thank you for your kind words with regard to the 'Icing' ^__^ Happy to hear your artistic thoughts.
Your response to the Principle is spot on....so true about not going back far enough to discover the source. I think I have read ...it takes five 'Why's ' to get there...something like that. Thank you for the reminder.
Appreciate you dropping by.....thank you!
Kind Regards,
Bleujay
I've never heard about the 5 whys. It sounds like something I will look up just for the fun of it.
The flowers are beautiful and I have never seen them before. I was surprised. Today's principal was amazing.. First diagnosis, then treatment. In the same way, first we have to identify the problem and then we have to solve it. Of course, some problems are not solved. Anyway, I couldn't finish without praising your painting. Great.
Greetings @momins ,
Thank you for stopping by.
What a kind thoughtful response to the post....appreciate it.
Kind Regards,
Bleujay
It's so true, rushing to patch things up without pinpointing the real issue just leads to the same problems over and over. Getting to the root of it saves so much time and effort
muy lindas pics! saludos from argentina!

So very true @bleujay. We spend a lot of our time attempting to figure out solutions when we don't really know what we are trying to resolve. Instinctively we can often sense an issue, we can feel something is wrong or needs fixing somehow but we just can't identify the actual issue itself. Such is the nature of life.
Humans are good at problem solving a lot of the time, but when they don't know what the problem is they stumble and they clash. These scenarios can be very common, often subtle but sometimes pronounced.
I think it's great that you have produced a post to remind us all of this principle, even the most rational and intelligent of us need reminding of it from time to time.
Regarding the icing the photos of the flowers are saturated with warming green and cream colours, what a delight to look at. And the plates you rest those awesome vases on, nothing is spared in your elegant presentation.
Good to see you back @bleujay I had wondered where you had gone!

I agree with you, organization, identify the problem first and then look for the solution
Greetings @lupega ,
Happy to hear you understand the Principle.

Bleujay
Let's talk no more about leaks... It's all too fresh in my head, interestingly though we learned another long held principle too, apparently, 'water and electricity do not mix', who knew?
Back to the principle though, many go in to 'headless chicken mode' rather than seeking the root of a problem at the start, m'lady says I am like a sociopath when something shocking, traumatic or major happens, I stand back for a moment to try and orient my mind to assess what is happening and what is the next logical (I become almost robotic) step to be taken. I can be in what looks to others, like a trance like state for a minute or two, to stop overload and seek solutions.
However, far more important than me rambling on about my neuroses 😁 is for me to wish you and yours a magnificent April and a wonderful start to Q2 of the year, a multitude of blooms really do begin to appear in earnest now 🙂
Many of which will be portrayed beautifully on this very page, in soul lifting art, I have no doubt 🌷
