Greetings Dear Reader;

.
Happy New Year!

Hope you are well.

A Principle for all time...attributed to the ancient Greek philosopher Plato.

'It is better to know one's ignorance than to be wrong.'

To learn to say....to be able to say ...'I don't know.'...is quite the manifestation of humility.

Giving this Principle a think objectively; we could look at the situation as an opportunity to learn something...to go about obtaining necessary information.

Ignorance is fixable. Ignorance is lack of knowledge not stupidity...but being wrong due to not getting the facts could be. Perhaps getting ahead of the wave by getting the facts and being wrong less would be a good approach to this Principle as well as learning to recognise and acknowledge there are times we do not know.

Let's give this Timeless Truth a think...shall we.
.

Wishing you and yours all the best...God's best!

'Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.' John 8.12

It is faith alone in Christ alone for eternal life.
.

Thank you for dropping by today. ^__^

Kind Regards,

Bleujay

'Bleu Tulips in a Garden Planter'
.
.
.
Details regarding the 'Icing' (photography and painting)....

All seaside pictures were taken with an iPad Pro....on a sunny day in the late afternoon.

The original painting is of tulips, sort of in the planter yet not in the planter rather like the waves of the sea, thus the bleu colour for the flowers.

Thank you for your interest. ^__^

Acknowledging a lack of knowledge is a noble act. Everything else is presumption.

Good photos from the rough sea.

I wish you a good weekend.

Happy New Year, dear @bleujay ! ❤️
So beautiful artwork and your photos reminds me the power of the nature.
I appreciate so much the principle and I agree with you: "To learn to say....to be able to say ...'I don't know.'...is quite the manifestation of humility."! This one made me think about the "I know that I know nothing" (my favorite principle since I was a young girl) by the greek philosopher Socrate (derived from the principle of Plato). ❤️

Hello @bleujay friend 😀🙏, Happy New Year to you and all your loved people around!... It's good to read one of your posts full of wisdom again!... This time you've made me remember (your posts always have that effect on me, wow) an anecdote from about 25 years ago when I worked as "Data Center Chief" at a local corporation (I would have been about 30 years old) and I was invited to clarify certain technical points at a meeting with the board of directors. Then, there was a moment when I received a barrage of questions (almost all unrelated to my area of work) from the company's CEO, and there I was, standing in front of everyone and completely unfazed, simply replying: "Wow, Johann (that was the CEO's name), I honestly don't have the slightest idea about any of the things you're asking" 😂... My immediate supervisor nearly fainted!, some of the other executives started shaking their heads as if denying or regretting my answer, Johann, the CEO, remained silent, and a few seconds later burst into loud laughter. Then he said: "You see? We need more guys like this, who admit when they don't know something instead of spouting nonsense!" 😲 Well, to make a long story short, 15 days later I was promoted to regional IT manager, and shortly after that to national IT manager. To this day, I still believe I was lucky, but it taught me that it's good to know (and accept) when you don't know something!!! 😀

The photos you're sharing today are beautiful, as is that wise principle, and—as expected—one of your spectacular watercolor artworks! Bravo! Thank you for sharing!

Hello, @bleujay, nice to read from you again! You come back with impressing and very clear beach photography (it feels as if one could see the single sand grains) and a wonderful tulip picture!

This time it's easy for me to agree with your principle: I know that I don't know anything about many things, hehe. 😊

Great water colour you painted, it's awesome! I love the ocean and there's nothing like the sound of waves breaking on the beach or rocks. Those are some great shots you captured, makes me want to head over to the beach!

Ignorance really is something to be owned up to. If you don't know just say it. For some people they have the need to be right even when it makes them look like an absolute moron. Having the humility to say I don't know is a great way to learn something new! Great post as always!

Man I almost got lost in the pictures long enough to forget about the Principle. Seeing the ancient rocks, shifting sands and power of the water makes you think about the passage of time and things slowly changing under our noses.

'It is better to know one's ignorance than to be wrong.'

That Plato guy might have known a thing or 2 eh? For me, this one strikes back to a principal I tried to set for myself along the lines of Never Stop Learning. Knowing there is restriction in rigidity of though and an ego can get in the way of knowledge when being right is the priority. Learning can take the path of more learning along a path already being travelled, or discovering you are wrong and changing that path.

Anyhow, one's ignorance shouldn't be an insult to oneself, it should be a blindfold constantly being removed as it has a tendency to slip back down over the eyes unchecked. Willful ignorance can be lumped in with stupidity or fragility of ego but normal ignorance is well....normal!

A little humility and a mind open for change or even conflicting information is the path to wisdom. That path is not always peaceful but I would rather have my ignorance challenged than live with the bliss of being wrong or to slow my learning.

Greetings @zekepickleman ,

Happy New Year!

Thank you for dropping by with such a splendid response to the post.

Appreciated hearing your thoughts...so true. I agree heartily.

The Romans had a maxim for 'Never stop Learning'....something like 'When we stop learning, we start dying.'...Thank you for reminding me.

Kind Regards,

Bleujay

That principle is one I often state would be best adopted by politicians, that would be greatly appreciated.

The ability to say, I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to that but I will do my best to find an answer and get back to you. That would be delightfully refreshing. Then I remember that I am likely guilty of this at times too... After checking, guilty as charged.

Although this was far more of a 'me problem' when I was younger, something about age, removes a fair dose of ego, I find that anyway. Also, some recent life revelations have placed honesty above most things in life.

Those Bleu-tulips hearken to the times that are not so far away, thanks for sharing a little beauty alongside some timeless wisdom (and maybe a teeny chiding for those reading, if they are found wanting 😎)

Take good care 😎🙏

Greetings @stevenwood ,

Oh yes...I wish.

Indeed, we get carried away by the subject matter and next thing you discover is that little phrase 'I don't know' somehow disappeared and is nowhere to be found.

Principles do have that reputation....of chiding...it's true. ^__^

The moniker 'Bleujay' was chosen for several reasons....one of which was the harshness of their call....seemed to go with Principles.

Thank you for your kind words regarding the painting.

Kind Regards,

Bleujay
