Greetings Dear Art Appreciators;

Hope you are well and enjoying a fine day wherever you are.

There comes a time in the course of a year that I paint something using no colour mainly concentrating on the values...with a range from light to dark...trying to push the ranges. However this year...I thought...why not try the colour 'Bleu'.

The intricacies and varieties of the colour 'Bleu' were quite interesting to work with and a great pleasure to paint. The variations between the bleus ranged from Warm to Cool, Bright to Muted, Darkest Navy to the Palest Bleu. Though the colour 'Bleu' was the focus...I did end up using a bit of a Beige colour to assist in bringing about a finished product. Here's hoping you enjoy the paintings.

Hello @bleujay friend!!! 🙏... Looking at them up close reminds me of the shelves of ceramic plates my grandmother had carefully displayed in the hallways of her house when I was a child. She would say: "Be careful, look at them without touching them; they're hand-painted"... And they were just like that, blue with a few traces of other subtle colors, with figures of leaves, flowers, and sometimes a fish or even a small human face. Their magic resembled your beautiful watercolors you brought us today... Thank you for sharing and for once again giving me a memory... Have a blessed weekend, sending hugs!

Gorgeous! It's interesting that you chose bleu's when the photo is red's and yellow's.

You must have some garden. I like to imagine the fragrance from all those roses and peonies. Fragrance is lacking in mine. Gotta get working on that! Perhaps Festiva Maxima would be a good choice.

Thank you for the smiles...I shall try in future to paint the very lovely 'Festiva Maxima'....her aroma is that of a florist shoppe in the best way.

You know what is funny about a Garden...it does not seem large until one has to tend it....and seems small compared to how many plants you are desirous of adding to it....such a conundrum.

I have a very small yard. The idea was to have a garden of an easily tended one, enough to keep me just busy enough outside, in my old age. If I want to try something new, I have to replace something already there.

You are such a good painter, @bleujay, is painting just a nice hobby or was it maybe part of yout studies? I love your blue (bleu? 😊) peony paintings but also the color of the photo at the end of your post!

Aren't peonies beautiful when they bloom? Great picture you captured there at the end. The watercolors (Americanized) are amazing, you have such an eye for detail, contrast, and hues. I liked seeing the project in motion from the sketch down to the finished product, they are pretty! Alas, I'm not a gifted artist, but I do enjoy beautiful art that others produce like yours. Thank you so much for sharing them, I know they are a lot of work!
