Cervical cancer awareness
Vaccination and awareness about cervical cancer were conducted at my school.
Some health officials came to our school to educate staff, students, and pupils about cervical cancer. In fact, they informed us that the government provided vaccines for young girls aged 9 to 14.
The health officials emphasized that cervical cancer is a deadly disease that affects girls and women indiscriminately. They highlighted the alarming rate at which women and some young girls are dying due to cervical cancer, stressing the need for urgent intervention by WHO and concerned governments.
We were informed that cervical cancer prevention and control are crucial for both young girls and boys. Vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV) is key, as HPV infection is a primary cause of cervical cancer. Girls were advised to abstain from early sexual activity, having multiple sex partners, and practicing unsafe sex.
We were told that basic prevention measures, such as vaccination, can help reduce the risk of HPV transmission, and regular screenings for cervical cancer are important for early detection and treatment.
Cervical cancer often has no symptoms in its early stages, but as it advances, common symptoms include vaginal bleeding (such as bleeding between periods, after sex, or after menopause), pelvic pain, pain during intercourse, and unusual vaginal discharge.
Students were advised to abstain from early sex, reject cervical cancer, and avoid sexually transmitted diseases and infections.
We had a great time with the health officials, and teachers and students asked interesting questions such as:
Is sex a key factor in cervical cancer in boy and girls? Answer: Yes.
At what age should one engage in sex without risk? Answer: At marriage age, for the risk is reduced when it is within marriage because the number of sex partners is reduced.
Since boys contribute to the spread of cervical cancer, why are they not included in the vaccination? Answer: Because the vaccine is very expensive, and WHO decided to prioritize vaccinating girls and women, as they are the ones most affected and at risk of this dangerous disease called cervical cancer.
Thanks for reading and viewing. Pictures were taken by me with my Techno Spark 8P
That's so nice of the people.
Teaching children things like this in early age will go a long way to helping them know the right from wrong.
Even me, I didn't have a reasonable knowledge of this until I read this.
Thank you
