Midweek Report : Splinterland Player Trying To Hide His Smugness After Selling His Gold Alpha and Beta Cards During the Peak Bull.
A Splinterland's player could not hide his smugness as shit hit the fan with the new changes to Ranked Battles which lead to the Wild cards which contained Alpha , Beta and Untamed plummeted in value. @splinterlandsmillionaire decided to sell all his gold foil legendries during the 2021 bull run which saw him profit easily over a million dollars from the fire sale. Other Splinterlands players called him a fool for selling such valuable cards but @splinterlandsmillionaire preferred to be a rich man when the laptop closed. Who knew what would happen in the future anyway. Most of these games would buy you and sell you anyway and come up with new ways to withdraw money from the users so it was best to sell these cards for good money. Unbelievable money actually. He could not believe his luck. In the end he made $1,275,385 and he had still a maxed out deck to compete with the OG's of the game. He could now buy a home and a couple of cars, nice cars and still have 500k left over for just holidays and living expenses for the next 10 years. What a coup. The only downside was that Land was coming down the line and it may be even more profitable to buy this up but he opted to cash in while the prices were astronomical. He lounged in his hammock in the Maldives looking into his pool with the Splinterlands emblem in it not really worried about the situation. His best pal @ilovethecommunity was totally against the idea of him selling as he thought it was a major mistake as the older gamers will profit in the future having the best cards especially these alpha gold foil maxed out legendries. These cards were only going to increase in value.
Then came the crash and many tried to sell their cards but the asking price was too low to trigger the sale but not to worry , hold stern and the next bull run will see the prices increase again. @splinterlandsmillionaire stopped playing for a while as the salt was off the scale in Discord but the thing was he was sitting in a lovely house which was paid for by his cards so he didn't lose any sleep. In fact he slept better as he had no financial worries. Crypto loyalty was low on his list of priorities. They were his NFT's so he could do with them as he pleased. He was ostracized for selling out but it was more jealousy than anything else that he had seen from his fellow gamers. He just got it right.
Some years passed , Land came out and SPS was launched but still the cards did not increase. Due to a game change in modern ,t the newer cards became more valuable as they were more powerful than the older ones. The rewards for playing the newer cards were increased as Splinterlands rewarded the newer player. They had sold the beta cards and alpha cards so there was no revenue to be had from long times passed. Eaten bread is long forgotten and all that so they switched their strategy to reward the users with the newer cards to sell more packs which is pretty diligent from a gaming company to do. Modern rewards became higher for the player and also wagons were introduced to reward the players that purchased the newer cards. Alpha and Beta were put to pasture and players were rewards when they put them on Land. However this was as far it it got. The new kids on the block could now buy cheap modern cards and compete at the top which was a big shock to the system for the older players as their weaker Beta cards were been smashed by Riftwatcher and Rebellion packs. @splinterlandsmillionaire had purchased these modern cards for a snippet and was still in Champion Level. He had played his cards correctly ever since Steem. The the best move he made was selling at the top. As with every crypto buy low and sell high. @splinterlandsmillionaire wondered why the other users did not use this strategy at the time. He hated to tell people "I told you so". What did they expect?? To dine out on Alpha gold cards forever. When you buy a car from Ford , you upgrade it in a few years with a newer, more powerful model. The Ford Mondeo does not increase in value. If that was the case Ford would be finished and the same logic would apply to every appliance on the planet. Everything has a shelf life including crypto NFT's. He pondered in his lovely house how so many intelligent people could be so stupid. He thought it may be the love for the game but most of the time all they did was slag it off on Mav Chat. It wasn't that. It was something else. And he realised one day it was all about greed. These OG users wanted more. If they had a million worth of cards then they wanted to sell for 2 million. This was their thought process but that day was long gone and they were salty and envious with the people that got it right. Since then the game had to move on to survive itself. Otherwise their Beta card would not be worth hundreds but would not be worth anything at all. But nobody is talking about the gameplay which has come on in leaps and bounds since the game first hit the big leagues. It is excellent and 10,000x what it was since the days of Alpha and Beta. New abilities have made the game excellent and really competitive. Bots are being eliminated and the game is going in the right direction. So the future is bright once they get through this turbulent period. The better cards were costing more and not the oldest cards and this change is what will propel the game forward for it to be a success.
Next time they will sell thought @splinterlandsmillionaire as he looked up his pals @ilovethecommunity 's card value on Peakmonsters. $20000 it was valued at. It used to be $1,000,000. Those are the breaks pal. You have to suck it up now and get on with life.
