The whole range of waders in America is different from those in Europe, like this one. If I happened to see one somewhere in mainland Europe and didn't get a good picture of it, I wouldn't know what it was. Of course, somewhere in the UK, where there are a lot of sea crossings, I would have to do a long atlas search.
