First photos with my new lens
I went out to take some photos with my new Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm F2.8 Pro lens, which has excellent reviews.
It is sharp from F2.8 and has the equivalent focal length of a 80-300mm lens on a full-frame camera.
It's quite 'short' for bird photography, but the high aperture is useful in the Czech Republic for most of the year.
It's also useful in the woods and in shady places. Tropical forests are beautiful, but there isn't much to shoot under the trees, as I found out last time I was in Colombia.
This photo is of a female Banded Demoiselle taken from a distance of about 2–3 metres.
She only occupies the middle of the frame, so she's quite cropped in the photo.
I still think it's a good photo. (even though we could have added an aperture and reduced the speed)
It's insect season now, so I suppose I'll take hundreds of photos, and there'll be plenty to choose from.
