When My World Went Missing.

I never knew how strong I was until June 12th, 2025. It is worth noting that the event that day still feels like a dream, and till this very moment, I have no solid explanation as to what happened. I started the day like every other day, woke up, got ready, and set out for work. As I was about to step out of the house, my Android phone rang. It was a call from my colleague inquiring if I was at the office yet.

After the call, I kept the phone back in the bag as I made my way to the express to board a tricycle for work. Halfway to the junction by the express, I saw a tricycle drive by with a man seated at the back. I called out my direction, and it stopped, but on entering, the driver informed me that he wasn't going in my direction, so I would just stop by the junction and board another tricycle. I was already running late, so I agreed, and he zoomed off.

As we approached the junction, I paid him, and he gave me change way more than the expected amount. For a moment, I considered not informing him, but then I thought, 'This is not my money, so why should I keep it?' In that instance, I brought the excess change to the driver's attention, a decision that I deeply regret to date, because instead of the driver appreciating my honesty, he got angry and became hostile.

Not only that, but he twisted my words, saying he gave me the accurate change and not a lesser amount. All efforts to explain to him proved abortive. The situation escalated quickly, which prompted the man seated by me to intervene. Despite his intervention, the driver still wasn't trying to understand as he kept shouting and yelling that I was trying to cheat him.

At a point, I wondered what was going on, and the next action the driver took was to bring out all the money he had earned that morning and hand it over to me. This was after he had retrieved the change I had been given earlier.

Next, he asked me to collect my change and give him the rest of the money. I did that, and by now we were at the junction by the express. The man seated by me kept laughing at the whole scenario as he told the driver he was lucky and that I was a good person.

At the junction, I got down and still tried to explain the situation so that the driver could understand me, but he shut me up and asked me to get out of his sight. He drove off, and I just stood for some time, dumbfounded.
After a while, I snapped out of the situation and boarded another tricycle to work.

At the office, I decided to charge both my phones as my batteries were low. I brought out the chargers and then brought out my iPhone. I had plugged in my iPhone when I noticed that my Android phone was not on the table with its charger. I rushed to check my bag again, only to discover that it wasn't in it.

I was calm as I felt that maybe I had forgotten the phone at home. I picked up my iPhone and tried calling my other line on the Android phone, hoping that my mom would pick up, but all I got was a beep and then disconnected. At this point, I felt the panic creep up my throat like a salamander escaping from a predator. Still, I didn't let my fear get the best of me. So, I called my mom's line to ask her if she had seen my missing phone, but her response was no.

In that moment, I was about to give in and switch to panic mode, but my mother assured me to be calm, that she would search for it, and it should be in the house somewhere. I became calm, and after the call, I waited impatiently for my mom to call to say that she had seen my phone, but no call came through.

I thought maybe she forgot, so I picked up my iPhone again and called her. My mom picked it up and said she still hasn't seen my phone, and when she does find it, she will call to inform me.

Ladies and gentlemen, that was how I waited till the close of work without getting any call from my mom. Regardless, I calmed myself with the thought that probably when I get home, I will do a more thorough search, but I was disappointed. I got home and ransacked my house, but I still couldn't find my phone.

Immediately, I understood why my mom didn't call me back, as it would have devastated me to know that my phone was gone.

That was one experience that was hard for me to accept, and until this very moment, I am hoping for a miracle that my phone will miraculously turn up. You know, I had always thought that I might die if anything happened to my phone. I know that's a bit extreme, but you see that phone? it held a lot of memories. That phone was my office, and despite getting some of my files back through backup, it did not erase the pain that I feel over the loss.

Sometimes, I can't help but replay that day over again, maybe there's something that I might remember that could help me find my phone. Unfortunately, there is none, and all I can do is just draw a deep breath and exclaim, "What an unbelievable day."

Omo!
That phone is gone and yes, it's painful.
The way I lost files in time past through my lost phones, I no longer joke with backups.
It's good you got your files saved

What an unbelievable day indeed, it is sad your android phone got missing but at least you got your iPhone to be using for now.
In case of next time, when such drama in any vehicle starts make sure you check your bag for your belongings.
You will be fine.

Oh no! polar dear, I understand the pain of losing a phone, not necessarily because of the cost but the memories , the documents and more stored in the phone...it's hard to accept . Then the tricycle man is an unbelievable man. He made ur life a bit miserable on the road over his own lack of understanding . I can Imagine such a day in ur life...from trouble on the road to losing ur phone, indeed , an unbelievable day!
