The Unifier - Children's Day Celebration and Tradition (ENG/ESP)
Children's day in my country, Nigeria, is usually celebrated on the 27th of May.
Back then, while I was still undergoing my basic education (Primary school), the Nigerian government does not joke with children's day. Infact, it is a day that is specially reserved for children, and it is being celebrated by different schools at the stadium and all students are expected to be neatly dressed in their school uniforms or sports wear.
Typically, it used to be a fun filled day with lots of food, drinks, merriment, and action packed activities like the match pass parade, we even have Children broadcasting in TV and radio stations.
We have children going on excursions to fun places like the airport or their favorite juice factory just to get a glimpse of how the magic is being done transforming raw materials to finished product.
Sometimes, children are provided the opportunity to shadow adults at their place of work to provide them with early job experiences and also inspirations to aspire for greatness.
Sadly, children's day did not continue the same way it did from my childhood. Now, parents who are financially capable celebrate their Children and this has led to the set-up of mini and mobile event centers where children can have fun, especially on their day.
My mom would always say that the birth of a child is a unifier such that even when one's enemy puts to birth, they find a course to celebrate. In my part of the world, children are considered blessings and in my culture it's a thing of joy whenever a child comes forth.
The moment a child is born, we have family members, neighbors, friends, and well-wishers trooping in to felicitate with the new parents.
These sets of individuals always come bearing gifts just like the three wise men when going to see baby Jesus. Times like this, the parents of the newborn equip their house with drinks to entertain their visitors.
While some families tend to celebrate more when the child happens to be a male, other families like mine really aren't concerned with things like that.
Provided that mother and child are ok, safe, and healthy, we celebrate and merry irrespective of the child's gender.
In Nigeria, it is customary for a child to have their naming ceremony done on the 7th day after birth.
So far, I have asked why on the 7th day but all I get is, that's how it's been doing since time immemorial and I have learned to live with that.
The naming ceremony of a newborn is often marked with merriment, there's always enough to drink and eat depending on the financial strength of the parents. After the naming ceremony, the next celebration of a child is on their first birthday and on this particular occasion, the child is usually taken to the photo studio for a photoshoot.
While not all parents take birthday celebrations seriously, that naming ceremony is a must, and it could either be done at home or religious houses.
Regardless of where the ceremony is being held, it is the togetherness and the thought that counts.

I will never forget that celebration, because it happens one day after my birthday.
As for the way they celebrate it in your country, I think it's great my friend @bipolar95. That means that being a child there, is something very important for the society and the country. Which I applaud, because that's how it should be seen.
I love the customs of when a woman gives birth to a child. Thank you for showing us a great part of your culture, and for participating in our initiative. Greetings and love. 😍

Children's day isn't celebrated as before and that is because everything have changed, even some parents cannot afford to celebrate their kids on that day due to various reasons. But it is always a good thing to set aside such a day to celebrate kids.
Yes, it will make them feel loved and boost their confidence. Thank you for reading me dear 😘
You just reminded me of the good old days of participating in march past on 27th May. Things have changed so much now. But we keep exploring ways to celebrate our children and make them happy on their special day.
#dreemerforlife
You sure got that right. Regardless of how the economy turns out, our children must be celebrated. Thank you for reading me 🙂
Why is mama looking like "what is this woman doing" 😂😂
She's tired of my nonsense 🤣😂🤣
I can see that
🤣😂🤣
The style at which Children's day was celebrated then is different from how it is now. With or without money, I urge all parents to make that day unique for their kids doing all sorts of things that makes them happy.
Why?? Because it is their day and so, it's all about them.
#Dreemerforlife.
Yes mama, you are right. Thank you for stopping by 😘
Your baby is beautiful.
I agree with you the mode of celebrating children's day has changed, a lot has even changed in Nigeria, even the world, we just have to keep moving, if there are some cultures we can hold onto, fine, if not, just move on.

Thank you for your compliment 🥰.... And yes! The only thing constant is change 🙂
