Success From A Personal Lens

Success is relative, as it varies from one person to another. Regardless, I doubt there's anyone who does not want to be successful. At every point in our lives, there's that place we want to be, a worry-free place where we feel fulfilled. It could be work, business, or marriage. It could be whatever it is that gives us that satisfaction and inner contentment that we are living a purposeful life.

Success does not happen overnight, it's a milestone, a goal and an ambition. As we advanced further on the Maslow hierarchy of needs, we see that our definition of what success should be begins to fine-tune itself based on our experience. Thus, it is safe to say that success is another form of trial by error, a process of learning, experimentation and adjustments.

Most importantly, success is a mental state, whose attainment is greatly dependent on the drive of people.

Personally, there were points in my life where I never appreciated my small wins. At the time, I had two degrees and it did not feel like I was doing enough. I had a job and could afford the basics but it still felt inadequate. In those instances, I felt empty like a failure and I started wondering why is it that other people were growing and my growth process seemed stagnant. It was not until a friend spoke to me about the importance of gratitude and appreciating our win no matter how small that I started understanding what success meant.

In my quest for a sustainable life, I saw that we are living life in stages and our advancements are unique. I started by saying success is relative because our growth process differs. One mistake that some individuals make is tying their growth process to another person's attainment making them feel inadequate and ungrateful.

A secret that I discovered with my understanding of success is that abundance flourishes in a grateful heart. Not only that but every win no matter how small is a stepping stone to the bigger wins. Thus, if we despise our days of humble beginning, we will miss out on the step to greater heights.

I am at that point where I view everything that gives me peace as success. While someone gets a car and celebrates their wins, I am celebrating years of sustainable friendships with everyone I have met on my quest for fulfillment.

Another thing that I discovered in my quest for successful attainment is using value to create bridges with quality people. No man is an Island and oftentimes, whatever we become is greatly dependent on the sort of people that we align ourselves with.

I like the fact that you said no man is an island on his own; everyone needs people to be able to stand firm. To succeed, we need certain men in our lives. By men, I mean both genders, before you come for me, 😆 😄

Truest words ever! If only people will recognize the the fact you get in abundance when you are grateful for even the little you have and that’s how you enter success.
