Reflecting on Sia's I'm Still Here.
If there's one thing about Sia's songs, it's that they are always relatable. Plus, they always resonate with me on a much deeper level. I have been vibing to Sia's "I'm Still Here," and I really do love the song.
This song talks about our struggles, our challenges, and the constant battles we have to fight to stay alive and keep sane. Listening to the song, one might think that the enemy we fight against is out there, but it's not.
We might even want to believe that there is a big, scary monster after us. Having paid close attention to the lyrics, we soon realize there's no enemy out there. Basically, we are the obstacle preventing us from living the life we so desire.
The battle Sia sang to us about fighting was referring to a war between herself and her shadow, which I like to interpret as her ego. Sia was communicating to us about our inner struggles not only to overcome negative traits, behavior, or attitudes but also to move on from traumatic past experiences.
Like my slogan, the only one I'm in a competition with is who I was in the past. I'm not trying to be better than anyone else. Basically, I only need my present to always be better than my past.
This is me, fighting to win a war.
The line "the battle was lost" was simply an acknowledgement of human challenges that sometimes seem to overwhelm us to the point that we feel like giving up. But then the resolve to persevere in our darkest of nights and stormiest of weather is what she communicated to us in the line, "I'm still here," for in the end, in a subtle tone, we perceived a shift in mood as Sia resumed singing, "I'm winning the war now."
It's worth noting that after the rain comes the sunshine, and despite the battles being lost, irrespective of all we've been through, it's more important for the war to be won to usher in a sense of empowerment and triumph.

In conclusion, Sia was urging us to reflect on our personal growth so as to become self-aware. For only in self awareness can we develop the courage to confront our inner demons.
