I have always opined that if most adults prepared for parenthood, the society just might not be as chaotic as it is today. Because let's face it, the societal problems that we experience are perpetuated by humans who at one point were mostly victims of failed parenting.

We often hear that there are no manuals to parenting. Some say that it's not a one-size-fits-all program. Regardless, there are certain parental principles that could avert or at least cut down on some of the ill behavioral patterns that we see play out in some individuals. Some of these principles are love, discipline, guidance, and balance.

You know there are parents who feel that they've given their children education, and as such, the children should find their feet from there. Even when these parents are wealthy, you'll often see them sell off their properties as they age and leave nothing for their children to inherit.

Personally, I frown at such actions or parental decisions because our children's well-being is our responsibility and top most priority.

Again, we owe it to our children, smooth sailing on this journey called life. I mean, why sell off an asset when it can be willed to a child who has the capability of managing such an asset and earning a living from it?

And even when we feel like we shouldn't pamper our children too much with assets and inheritance, how about securing a good job for them to give them a good head start at life?

I understand that there is this belief that people do not take seriously what they don't work for, and this is why some parents would rather not will anything to their children, but that's where the principle of parenting comes in.

I believe that the perfect parenting style is finding a balance between discipline and love while using guidance as a compass to lead the child to the type of life you've envisaged for them as their parents.

Basically, I wouldn't want my child to experience the marginalized side of life, and that's why I build from the foundation that my family has laid for me. Life might be difficult and quite challenging too, if I might add. But you see, with finance, almost all one's problems become less threatening.

That being said, I am of the opinion that if some of these individuals who turn to crime and other illegalities had a better opportunity at life via their parents already established success and balanced parenting style, they would have veered in a much better direction in life.
