Walking in the fresh air of the village 🚶🚶‍♀️/ Köyün temiz havasında yürüyüş 🚶🚶‍♀️

About 10 days ago, we went to my wife's hometown. We surprised our parents. They were very happy, and equally surprised. Travelling in winter was difficult. But the happiness on their faces made it all worthwhile.

Yaklaşık 10 gün önce eşimin memleketine gittik. Annemize ve babamıza sürpriz yaptık. Çok mutlu oldular , bir o kadar da şaşırdılar. Kış ayında yolculuk zor geçti. Ama yüzlerindeki mutluluk herşeye değerdi.

The village was very cold. That's why we couldn't leave the house much except for a few days. The cold drained all our energy. One day when the weather was milder, we went outside. My wife and I went for a walk in the light rain. We would have loved to have done this walk in the snow, but it didn't snow. Anyway, the walk in the rain was very pleasant.

Köy çok soğuktu. Bu yüzden evden bir kaç gün dışında evden çok çıkamadık. Soğuk bütün enerjimizi alıyordu. Havaların daha ılımlı olduğu birgün dışarı çıktık. Eşimle hafif yağmurlu havada yürüyüş yaptık. Bu yürüyüşü kar yağarken yapmayı çok isterdik ama kar yağmadı. Neyseki yağmurda yürüyüşte çok keyifliydi.

When we left the house, it wasn't very cold. The rain was falling gently. The air in the village was also crystal clear. The more we walked, the more we felt the fresh air.

After walking for a while, we came to an area with water and a covered area. This was the village's communal place for washing bulgur and dried pulses. Because the soil structure is permeable, the water does not reach the surface. Half an hour away from the village, water collects in a dam. Due to water shortages, the water from here is also shared. Gardens are watered in turn. In addition to this irrigation, there are ponds in the gardens. This is to collect rainwater and snowmelt. This collected water is also used for garden irrigation. In the region where I live, the Black Sea, heavy rainfall causes flooding or landslides, leading to the fragmentation of agricultural land. In the Black Sea, this makes life somewhat difficult. Here, however, water means life.

Biraz yürüdükten sonra suyu ve üzeri kapalı olan bir alana geldik. Burası köyün ortak bulgur ve kuru bakliyat yıkama yeriymiş. Toprak yapısı geçirimli tabaka olduğu için şu yüzeye çıkmıyor. Köye yarım saatlik bir mesafede su, barajda toplanıyor. Su sıkıntısı olduğu için buradan çıkan su da ortak kullanılıyor. Sırayla bahçe sulanıyormuş. Bu sulamaya ek olarak bahçelerde havuz var. Yağan yağmur ve kar suyu birikmesi için. Bu biriken suyu da bahçe sulamasında kullanılıyormuş. Benim yaşadığım coğrafyada yani Karadeniz'de yağmur çok yağıp sele neden oluyor veya heyelan sonucunda tarım arazisinin parçalanmasına neden oluyor. Karadenizde su hayatı bir nebze de olsa zorlaştırıyor. Burada ise su, hayat demekmiş.

Since this geography is unfamiliar to me, I ask my wife why everything I see is done or what it is used for. We continued walking like this. The forest cover is sparse. There is very little forest around me. Consequently, there is less greenery. The houses are also made of stone. Again, it was different from my geography. I thought some of the houses were abandoned. Because they were very old and their corners were broken and crumbling. But those houses are about 70-80 years old, so that's why they look like that.

While walking, my wife's relative saw us. He invited us for tea. We chatted over tea. They were very warm and hospitable. After sitting here for about an hour, we continued our walk.

Yürürken eşimin akrabası bizi gördü. Çay içmeye davet etti. Çay eşliğinde sohbet ettik. Çok sıcakkanlı ve misafirperverlerdi. Burada yaklaşık bir saat oturduktan sonra yürüyüşümüze devam ettik.

Fog had settled over the village, and the rain was drizzling again. Olives were grown in some gardens. I was a little surprised, as I didn't know this region was suitable for olive cultivation. There were pens next to the houses. They were raising goats. I really wanted to see a kid, so we asked a few homeowners about them. But it wasn't yet the goats' birthing season. We couldn't find any kids.

Köye sis çökmüş, yağmur yine atıştırıyordu. Bazı bahçelerde zeytin yetiştiriliyormuş. Buna biraz şaşırdım bu coğrafyanın zeytin yetiştirmeye uygun olduğunu bilmiyordum. Evlerin yanlarında ağıllar vardı. Keçi yetiştiriyolarmış. Oglak görmeyi çok istiyordum, birkaç ev sahibine oğlak sorduk. Ama keçilerin doğum zamanına daha varmış. Oğlak bulamadık.

We walked a little further and had now reached the lowest part of the village. There were high cliffs here. The mist looked very beautiful behind the rocks. There was a small stream running between the rocks. It was said that this stream had healing properties. People with warts on their bodies would rub this water on the wart, and it would disappear within a few days. I used to think such things were just legends, but when my husband said she had witnessed it herself, I believed it. I hope it brings healing to more people.

Biraz daha yürüdük ve artık köyün en aşağı kısmına gelmiştik. Buralarda yüksek kayalıklar vardı. Kayaların ardından sis çok güzel görünüyordu. Kayaların arasından küçük bir akarsu vardı. Bu akarsu şifalı olduğu söyleniyormuş. Vücudunda siğil olan insanlar, bu suyu siğilin üzerine sürüyormuş ve birkaç güne geçiyormuş. Böyle şeylerin efsane olduğunu düşünürdüm ama eşimde bizzat kendi şahit olduğunu söyleyince inandım. Umarım daha fazla kişiye şifa olur.

We had come to the lower neighbourhoods of the village. This area was flatter than the village itself. Walking here was more enjoyable. The dam was far from the village. We had approached the dam. Having come this far, I wanted to see the dam. We went up to the bridge and the view below was very high. The water was flowing very strongly because it had been raining. The water was rushing very fast between the huge mountains, accompanied by a loud roar. It was terrifying. But watching the water was just as peaceful. The water was normally turquoise in colour. But because it had been raining, the water was now cloudy. Even in this state, the dam was magnificent. After watching the dam, we started walking back home.
It was a pleasant trip where we breathed in the fresh, clean air.

Köyün alt mahallelerine gelmiştik. Burası köye göre daha düzlüktü. Yürüyüş yapması da daha keyifliydi. Baraj köye uzak kalıyordu. Bizde baraja yaklaşmıştık. Buraya kadar gelmişken barajı görmek istedim. Köprüye çıktık ve aşağısı çok yüksek görünüyordu. Su yağmur yağdığı için çok şiddetli akıyordu. Kocaman dağlar arasından yüksek gürültü eşliğinde su çok hızlı ilerliyordu. Çok korkunçtu. Ama suyu izlemesi de bir o kadar huzurluydu. Suyun rengi normalde turkuaz rengindeydi. Ama yağmur yağdığı için suyun rengi şuan bulanıktı. Bu haliyle bile baraj görkemliydi. Barajı seyrettikten sonra eve dönmek için tekrar yürümeye başladık.
Çok keyifli ve tertemiz havayı soluduğumuz bir gezi oldu.
