The new address of the competition: the 18th Black Sea Off-Road Race / Mücadelenin Yeni adresi: 18. Karadeniz Off-Road Yarışı

Hello everyone, I hope you're well and in good spirits. As I mentioned earlier, there were to be off-road competitions on the Korgan Plateau on Sunday, August 3rd. The competition took place. It had been held before. The competition held on Sunday was the 18th Black Sea Off-road Competition.

The competition consisted of three stages. Each pilot would circle the track three times, ending with one stage. At the end of these three stages, the rankings would be determined. These stages were named after the soldier who had been martyred approximately a month earlier: the Martyr Kani Obi stage.

Yarışma 3 etabdan oluşuyordu. Her pilot, pisti üç defa dönecek ve bir etabı son bulacaktı. Böylece üç etab sonunda sıralamalar belli olacaktı. Bu etabların ismine ise yaklaşık bir ay önce şehit olan askerin ismi verilmişti. Yani şehit Kani Obi etabı.

Preparations for the competition were made several days in advance. The pilots were sent off one by one from the Korgan district center to the Korgan plateau with a ceremony. Many people arrived with the pilots on Saturday evening.

Yarışma için birkaç gün öncesinden hazırlık yapıldı. Korgan ilçe merkezinden pilotlar tek tek tören eşliğinde Korgan yaylasına uğurlandı. Çok kişi pilotlar ile birlikte Cumartesi akşamı Korgan yaylasına geldi.

There was entertainment on Saturday evening. People set up tents, played music, and danced. They lit fires and chatted around them. There had been concerts at previous competitions and festivals. But I think the rainy and cold weather meant there wasn't a concert before this one.

Cumartesi akşamı ise eğlence vardı. İnsanlar çadır kurdu. Müzik açıp oynadılar. Ateş yakıp etrafında sohbetlerini ettiler. Daha önceki yarışma ve şenliklerde konser de oluyordu. Ama sanırım yağmurlu ve soğuk havadan dolayı bu yarışma öncesi konser olmadı.

When I woke up Sunday morning, it was foggy and rainy. Few people had come to the plateau that morning. The rain stopped around 10:00 a.m. People flocked to the plateau an hour after the rain stopped.

Pazar günü sabah kalktığımda havalar sisli ve yağmurluydu. Sabah saatlerinde yaylaya gelen kişi sayısı azdı. Saat 10.00 sıralarında yağmur kesildi. İnsanlar yağmurun kesilmesinden bir saat sonra yaylaya akın ettiler.

After the rain stopped, we headed out. We had a short walk to get to the racetrack. My dad and mom drove, so my sisters and I opted to walk. The roads were foggy, but not cold. We walked, taking in the fresh air. After a delightful walk, we arrived at the racetrack and the market area.

Yağmur kesildikten sonra ve bizde dışarıya çıktık. Yarış pistine ulaşmak için biraz yolumuz vardı. Babam ve annem arabayla giderken ben ve kız kardeşlerimle yürümeyi tercih ettik. Yollar çok sisliydi ama soğuk değildi. Temiz havayı içimize çekerek yürüdük. Çok keyifli bir yürüyüşten sonra yarış pistine ve pazar kurulan alana geldik.

It was very crowded, and they kept coming. There was practically no room left to park. A few vendors had set up their stalls in the market area. Other than that, there wasn't much opportunity for shopping. The market was lacking, but the grill halls were full, with people waiting in line. The smoke from the grill was visible from afar. I think they were the ones who had the biggest smiles. 🙂

Çok kalabalıktı ve hala gelmeye devam ediyorlardı. Araba park etmeye yer kalmamıştı neredeyse. Pazar alanında bir kaç tane esnaf tezgahlarını kurmuşlardı. Onun dışında alışveriş yapmak için çok fırsat yoktu. Pazar yönünden eksik kalmıştı ama ızgara salonları dolmuş, sırada bekleyenler vardı. Izgara dumanları uzaktan görünüyordu. Galiba en çok onların yüzü gülmüştü. 🙂

The racetrack was located below the market area. Because it's the most suitable area, the off-road race takes place here every year. But this year, they had kept the track area longer than in previous years.

*Yarış pisti, pazar kurulan alanın alt tarafındaydı. En müsait alan burası olduğu için her yıl off-road yarışması bu alanda oluyor. Ama önceki yıllara göre bu sene pist alanını daha uzun tutmuşlardı.

When we got to the field, people were watching with great excitement. One man had set up his chair on top of the car. He was watching from there. It made perfect sense. Because the track was so long, it wasn't possible to see everything. From above, he could see the entire track clearly. So, we chose a spot with good visibility and started watching.

Sahaya indiğimizde insanlar çok heyecanlı bir şekilde izliyorlardı. Bir tane adam arabanın üzerine sandalyesini kurmuş. Oradan seyrediyordu. Yaptığı da çok mantıklıydı. Pist alanı uzun olduğu için her yeri görmek mümkün olmuyordu. Yukarıdan tüm pisti rahat bir şekilde görebilirdi. Bizde görüş açısı iyi olan bir yer seçtik ve seyretmeye başladık.

Orange and red stripes were drawn across the track. Security measures were in place. Soldiers were warning spectators near the stripes. Soldiers were on guard duty along the entire area where the stripes were located.

Pist alanına turuncu ve kırmızı şeritler çekilmiş. Güvenlik önlemleri alınmıştı. Askerler şeritlere yakın izleyenleri uyarıyor. Şeritlerin olduğu alan boyunca askerler nöbetteydi.

Many pilots from different provinces and districts participated in the competition, including Trabzon, Ünye, Fatsa, Samsun, Giresun, and Tokat. I counted 19 vehicles. But I don't know the exact number of vehicles in total.

Yarışmaya farklı il ve ilçelerden bir çok pilot katılmıştı. Trabzon, Ünye , Fatsa, Samsun, Giresun, Tokat gibi. Ben 19 tane araç saydım. Ama toplam kaç araç var tam olarak bilmiyorum.

When I arrived, the first stage was nearing completion. I didn't see much enthusiasm from the competitors in this stage. The driver, who had come from Tokat, overturned his car, but he managed to right it. He continued on his way. He received a standing ovation from the audience for this achievement.

Ben geldiğimde birinci etab tamamlanmak üzereydi. Bu etabda yarışmacıları çok hırslı görmedim. Yarışmaya Tokat'tan gelen pilotun aracı devrildi ve aracı orda geri doğrultmayı başardı. Ve yoluna devam etti. Bu başarısından dolayı seyircilerden büyük alkış aldı.

The first stage was completed. We took a half-hour break for vehicle servicing. During that break, we went to the grill halls to fill our stomachs. The halls were packed. So, we bought meatballs, bread, and döner kebab from a street vendor. We sat on the grass. The view was also beautiful. After eating, we sat for a while, taking in the beautiful view. Then, we returned to the competition area.

Birinci etab tamamlandı. Araçların servisi için yarım saatlik mola verildi. O molada bizde karnımızı doyurmak için ızgara salonlarına çıktık. Salonlar tıklım tıklım doluydu. Bu yüzden seyyar satıcıdan köfte ekmek ve döner aldık. Çimenlerin üzerine oturduk. Manzara da çok güzeldi. Yemeğimizi yedikten sonra bu güzel manzaranın karşısında biraz oturduk. The second stage was even more exciting. The pilots were even more ambitious. Despite the long distance between them, they were occasionally closing in on each other, trying to overtake each other. The excitement was reaching its peak.

2.etab daha heyacan vericiydi. Pilotlar daha hırslıydı. Pilotlaın arasında uzun mesafe olmasına rağmen zaman zaman birbirlerine yaklaşıyorlar. Birbirlerini geçmeye çalışıyorlar. Heyacan doruğa ulaşıyordu.

The race continued in the final, third stage. This stage saw fierce competition between pilots from the Korgan district. At times, the seated spectators rose to their feet and cheered. The spectators were so excited that some were hoarse from shouting. Finally, the third stage was completed. After a while, the results were announced. The winner was from the Korgan district. As in the previous year, the Korgan district did not win the title.

Son olan 3. etabda ise yarışma devam etti. Bu etabda Korgan ilçesinden katılan pilotlar arasında büyük rekabet oldu. Zaman zaman oturan seyirciler ayağa kalkıp tezahürat ediyorlardı. Seyirciler çok fazla heyecanlanmıştı. Bağırmaktan sesleri kısılanlar vardı. Ve nihayet 3. etabda tamamlandı. Belli bir süre sonra dereceler açıklandı. Birinci olan ise Korgan ilçesindendi. Geçen yıl olduğu gibi bu yıl da Korgan ilçesi birinciliği vermedi.

I watched the competition with great excitement. It was over. After the competition, I returned home. The fog had gradually lifted. But it could return at any moment. There was no fog on the way home. And the view looked beautiful. It was so refreshing to walk in such fresh air and beautiful scenery. The competition and the plateau remain fond memories for me. I hope to be able to watch this competition next year.

Yarışmayı heyacan dorukta izlemiştim. Artık yarışma bitmişti. Yarışma bitince eve döndüm. Sis yavaş yavaş çekilmişti. Ama her an geri de gelebilirdi. Eve dönerken sis yoktu.
