Science and Technology Museum / Bilim ve Teknoloji Müzesi🔬

Hello everyone,
My first post in Istanbul was Gülhane Park. After visiting this park, I visited the archeology museum, which is located right nearby. Interestingly, I never noticed the science museum while visiting Gülhane park. What is even more interesting is that I noticed this place by chance on my way back. Just because of this, I made myself a travel plan for Istanbul. 😄
It is exciting to closely examine the works of Islamic scholars whose names I have heard many times before. The museum was built on a large area and divided into sections for visitors to visit comfortably. I first visited the astronomy section.
The clock-like equatorium in the picture provides information about the planets, calculates the lunar eclipse, etc. The celestial sphere in the other picture provides different information such as the position of the stars.

İstanbul'daki ilk postum Gülhane Parkıydı. Bu parkı gezdikten sonra hemen yakınlarında bulunan arkeoloji müzesini ziyaret ettim. Gülhane parkını gezerken bilim müzesini enteresan bir şekilde hiç farketmedim. Daha da ilginç olan ise dönüş istikametine doğru giderken şans eseri burayı fark ettim. Sırf bundan dolayı kendime gezi planı ayarladım İstanbul için. 😄
Daha önce isimlerini birçok kez duyduğum islam bilginlerinin eserlerini yakından incelemek heyecan verici. Müze geniş bir alana yapılmış ve ziyaretçilerin rahat bir şekilde gezebilmesi için bölüm bölüm ayrılmış. Ben ilk olarak astronomi bölümünü gezdim.
Resimdeki saati andıran ekvatoryum gezengeler hakkında bilgi edinebilmeyi, ay tutulmasını vs hesaplıyor. Diğer resimdeki gök küre ise yıldızların konumu gibi farklı bilgiler edinmeyi sağlıyor.

One of the first things we hear about the earth in social studies or geography class is that the earth rotates on its axis. The instrument in the picture helps to confirm this thesis. The instrument with the double dial is also related to the stars. It is especially used to measure the height of the stars.

Sosyal bilgiler dersinde ya da coğrafya dersinde dünya ile ilgili duyduğumuz ilk şeylerden birisi dünyanın kendi ekseni etrafında dönmesi. İşte resimdeki alet bu tezi doğrulamaya yarıyor. Çift kadranlı alette aynı şekilde yıldızlarla ilgili. Özellikle yıldızların yüksekliğini ölçmede kullanılıyormuş.

Samarkand Observatory, which stands out with its architectural structure. This building offers a wide range of information about the Islamic culture, especially its architectural structure. It has shed light on the present day with its mysterious appearance and many architects have built different structures inspired by this building.
There are really astonishing instruments in the astronomy section. After the astronomy section, I visited the physics, war technology, health and physics sections. It is impossible to visit the whole building in a short time. It would be impossible to visit such a magnificent museum in a cursory manner. I took pictures of the sections I visited and took notes of the rest of the sections. I will visit again at a suitable time.

Mimari yapısıyla öne çıkan Semerkand Rasathanesi. Bu yapı İslam kültürünün özellikle mimari yapısı hakkında geniş bir bilgi sunuyor. Esrarengiz görünümüyle günümüze ışık tutmuş ve birçok mimar bu yapıdan esinlenerek farklı yapılar inşa etmiş.
Astronomi bölümünde gerçekten hayret uyandıran aletler mevcut. Astronomi bölümünden sonra fizik, savaş teknolojisi, sağlık, fizik gibi bölümleri de ziyaret ettim. Bütün binayı kısa bir sürede gezmek gerçekten imkansız. Böyle ihtişamlı bir müzeyi de üstün körü gezmek olmaz. Ben gezdiğim bölümlerin resimlerini çektim diğer kalan bölümleri de not aldım. Uygun bir zamanda tekrar gideceğim.

Each side of this magnificent instrument is individually decorated. You can't stop your eyes from looking at it. The other picture is a water alarm clock. Imagine using this clock to go to work in the morning. Even though it sounds strange, it seems very cool. 🙂

Bu görkemli aletin her bir yanı ayrı ayrı süslenmiş. İnsan gözlerini bakmaktan alıkoyamıyor. Diğer resimdeki alet ise alarmlı su saati. Sabah işe gitmek için bu saati kullandığınızı düşünsenize. Garip gelse de çok havalı sanki. 🙂

What you see in this picture is a clock. Yes, you didn't hear me wrong, it seemed very strange to me at first. At first I thought it had something to do with chemistry, but I was wrong.
In this picture, there is a ship that sheds light on today's ships. When examined in detail, it is not much different from today's ships.

Bu resimdeki gördüğünüz ise saat. Evet yanlış duymadınız ilk başta bana da çok garip gelmişti. Ben ilk başta kimya ile ilgili bir şey olduğunu düşünmüştüm ancak yanıldım.
Bu resimde ise günümüzdeki gemilere ışık tutan bir gemi bulunuyor. Detaylı incelendiğinde günümüzdekilerden çokta bir farkı yok.

Today, cupping has become increasingly popular. Here, too, cupping is used to obtain information about blood. But you can't tell from the picture. At least we have learned that this technique has been used in different ways.
The instruments used in the field of anesthesia also shed light on the present day. Although I don't have information on this subject, most of the tools used are similar to the ones used today. I noticed the different instruments used in dental treatment. I think many of them are not used today. About 20 years ago, they pulled my tooth with the tool number 520 and the person who pulled it was not a doctor. 😅

Günümüzde hacamat giderek popülerlik kazanmaya başladı. Burda da hacamat yöntemiyle kan ile ilgili bilgilere ulaşılmaya çalışıyor. Ancak resimden anlaşılmıyor. En azından bu tekniğin farklı şekillerde de kullanılmış olduğunu öğrendik.
Anestezi alanında kullanılan aletlerde aynı şekilde günümüze ışık tutuyor. Her ne kadar bu konuda bilgi sahibi olmasam da kullanılan aletlerin büyük çoğunluğu günümüzdekilere benzer şekilde. Diş tedavisinde kullanılan farklı aletlerde dikkatimden kaçmadı. Birçoğu sanırım günümüzde kullanılmıyor. Bundan yaklaşık 20 yıl önce 520 numaralı aletle dişimi çekmişlerdi ve çeken kişide doktor değildi. 😅

I had the chance to see the minerals up close for the first time. All of these precious minerals have their uses. The one that attracted my attention the most is galena. I even did some research on this mineral. This stone is used against psychological problems. You have to wonder what kind of effect it has. In addition, this mineral is used to protect against the diseases of flies.

Madenleri ilk defa yakından görme şansım oldu. Birbirinden kıymetli bu madenlerin hepsinin kullanım alanları var. İçlerinden benim dikkatimi en çok çeken galen madeni. Hatta bu madenle ilgili araştırma yaptım. Psikolojik sorunlara karşı bu taş kullanılıyormuş. Nasıl bir etkisi var insan merak etmiyor değil. Ayrıca bu maden sineklerin hastalıklarından korunmak içinde kullanılıyormuş.

Did you notice the horse inside the model? As the animal turns, the wheel turns and the water in the river is transported to the house or wherever it is to be used. The horse is probably used because it is very strong. The second picture is a model of a university that many European countries pioneered the construction of. The beauty of the university shows the importance given to education in the old days.

Maketin içerisindeki at sizin de dikkatinizi çekti mi? Hayvan döndükçe çark çalışıyor ve nehirdeki su eve ya da kullanılmak istenen yere taşınıyor. Atı kullanma nedenleri muhtemelen çok güçlü olması. İkinci resimde ise birçok Avrupa ülkelerinin yapımına öncülük eden bir üniversite maketi. Üniversitenin güzelliği eski yıllarda eğitime verilen önemi gösteriyor.

Do you like rose water? I especially like rose water cologne. This device is used to produce rose water. As far as I understand the mechanism, rose petals are placed in the inner part. Then a fire from the bottom heats these petals and the juice flows into empty containers on the outside.

Gül suyunu sever misiniz? Ben özellikle gül suyu kolonyasını çok severim. Bu alet gül suyu üretmede kullanılıyormuş. Düzenekten anladığım kadarıyla gül yaprakları iç kısma koyuluyor. Daha sonra alt kısımdan yakılan ateş bu yaprakları ısıtıyor ve suyu dış kısmındaki boş kaplara akıyor.

The museum is frequented by local people as well as tourists. Especially the sphere on the outside of the museum has become a great center of attention. Before I end my article, I would like to share some information with you. Fuat Sezgin laid the foundations for the establishment of this museum. As you know, he is also a great scientist. Moreover, they even buried his grave opposite the museum.

Müze yerli insanların uğrak noktası olduğu gibi turistlerden de büyük ilgi görüyor. Özellikle müzenin dış kısmında bulunan küre büyük bir ilgi odağı haline gelmiş durumda.
