When I think about a tradition that really means something to me, I always think of Diwali, the festival of lights. For me, it is not just a festival but a time that brings joy, hope, and love into my life.

From childhood, i used to wait for Diwali with so much excitement. Days before, we start cleaning the house, was
hing curtains, arranging things properly. My parents always said that when you clean before Diwali, you remove the bad energy and welcome good luck. I don’t know if it is true, but I always feel lighter and happier after the house is fresh and shining.
The part I love the most is lighting diyas. These small clay lamps are simple, but when you light them together, they make everything beautiful. To me, lighting a diya is not just about decoration, it feels like putting a small light into the darkness of life. Every diya gives me hope that no matter how dark things get, even a little light can make a big difference.
Another special part of Diwali is sharing sweets. We prepare laddoos, barfis, and other tasty things, and then exchange them with neighbors and relatives. It feels so good to see people smiling when they give or receive sweets. This small act makes me believe that happiness grows when we share it.
Of course, fireworks are always fun. As kids, we couldn’t wait to run with sparklers in our hands. Even now, I still enjoy looking at the sky full of colors. For me, fireworks are like a symbol of joy bursting into the night.
My honest take on Diwali is this: it’s not only about following rituals but about what they mean. Cleaning makes me feel fresh. Diyas give me hope. Sweets remind me of kindness. And being with family reminds me of love. These feelings are what make Diwali special.
What I do for this tradition is simple. I clean my home, I light my diyas, I share sweets, and I spend time with my family. I also take a quiet moment to thank God and pray for the future.
One memory I always keep close is standing outside with my family, all of us holding sparklers and laughing together. In that moment, I felt pure happiness. For me, that is what Diwali is really about, lllllight, love, and togetherness.
