I am not sure where you are or what the climate is like there, but plants, if they are local and not imported exotic plants, do not mind heat. quite the contrary, as long as they have humidity at the root system.
one thing I would consider doing is mulching. this is covering the root system around the plant with anything organic that keeps the soil covered and the humidity from evaporating.
could be leaves, grass cuttings, anything. this will decompose and create more organic material in the soil that will help maintain the humidity in it.
do not use chemicals. nature does not.
