Every Day Can Bring Us New Memories No Matter How Ordinary (Meet-up with a Friend, Dinner, and Quick Stop at the Department Store)

Hello and Good Day to everyone, to all wonderful and hardworking Asean Hivers. Yesterday, I and my partner went out to deliver some snacks that my friend ordered. Then we went to a small department store to check if the blenders were on sale after having our dinner.

My friend is a member of an NGO; every Saturday, they give free classes to street children or children of less fortunate families. She wanted to share the food with the other volunteers. So, we went to her location which was at the St. Alphonsus’ Seminary Multi-purpose Hall (Cebu City). But we only met her at the entrance area to deliver the goodies. She was in a hurry, I forgot to have our pictures taken. It’s terribly hot these days in my country as seen in the short clip. It was just a short meet-up with her because their session was still going on at this time.

We were so hungry that we decided to have our early dinner. We went to a small department store called Super Metro downtown. Within the building, there’s a restaurant named Ribshack that offers grilled food and rice is included in the meal and price. We didn’t expect to see so many diners at this time, it was Saturday and there were many group of friends and families enjoying their meal.

I chose the table near the glass wall. While waiting for my partner to order food, I took some pictures of the restaurant. Restaurants with grilled dishes and unlimited rice are really popular in my country. The waiter roams around to serve anyone who wants extra servings of rice. Sometimes we would raise our hand to catch their attention especially when the place is too crowded.

We then joyfully ate our meal. We had quite a busy morning and preparing my friend’s order and some neighbors messaged us for their snack orders also so we got hungry after meeting my friend. For my partner, he had the grilled chicken leg part and mine was pork spareribs but we didn’t order soda anymore, we just had their service water. For condiments, they have chicken oil, soy sauce, vinegar, and calamansi (citrus fruit). These grilled dishes become more delicious when eaten with these condiments. I guess most people also sprinkle some chicken oil on their rice to make it more appetizing.

Their restaurant is spacious but weekends are their busy time so it was packed with customers and it got warmer inside. I noticed there were two foreigners eating their meal but with only a cup of rice while the locals had their plates filled with rice, heheh… what a difference! It just shows how voracious rice eaters Filipinos are.

We then went out and headed to the appliance center of this store (Super Metro). We thought of buying a blender just with a small capacity. They have different local brands on display and on sale until the end of April. The cheapest one we checked was priced at about 16 USD. My partner wanted to check other displays at another dept. store nearby. When we got out, it looked like it was going to rain so we decided to head home as we didn’t want to be caught by rain.

Before reaching home, we stopped by at a “sari-sari store” (neighborhood variety store) to buy some eggs. We were greeted by their cute staff, a shih tzu (if I’m not mistaken) heheh! He was just so quiet and calm that my partner couldn’t resist patting him. We prefer buying eggs at this store because their egg stock is replenished every week so we can be sure that their supply is fresh. We got home and about 30 minutes later, it started to rain. It was a good decision to go home earlier.
