A Quick Visit to Borbon, Cebu: From the Failed Meet-Up to the Unexpected Stop with a Captivating View of the Coast

Hello awesome friends of Hive! Hope everyone is in the best of everything today! It's Sunday once more, for some it’s a family day, for others it’s a ME time day. Whatever that is, I hope you are happy today.

Recently, I and my partner visited his hometown (Borbon, Cebu, Philippines) to process some documents related to the land titling of a parcel of lot that they inherited from their parents. We traveled to his homeplace by motorcycle. We set out before 8 in the morning, hoping that we could catch the personnel in charge for this matter. Last time my partner visited their place, the personnel was out of sight. My partner called him but to no avail. We still decided to meet him that day, hoping that he was on duty at his office at the municipal hall.

My partner then went inside, unfortunately, the personnel had some other business to do in the city. Then again, the purpose of going back to his hometown wasn’t realized. He had to set another date for it. We thought our time that day was not fully utilized and felt that our energy was wasted going there. Anyway, we couldn’t do anything about it so we just decided to check some spots in their homeplace.

I noticed that the huge and colorful Christmas tree is still up; still standing strong and undamaged. It was a weekday and at that time, there were only few people doing some transactions in their municipal hall. A mother and a daughter just blended well with the colors of the Christmas tree.

In the Philippines, normally town churches have traditional architectural designs dating back to the Spanish colonization. So I wanted to see their town church, but my partner said that it was already renovated, so it looked a bit modern. I felt a bit disappointed because I wanted to see the old design. It was so quiet, probably because it was also midday and too hot to go outside for the local people.

There was also a mini fish port about half kilometer from the church. I expected to see many boats at this point but I only saw this boat. My partner said that fishermen would just take a rest or drop their catch in this area. They don’t anchor their boats within this area. It was hot but not humid, so we decided to relax a bit.

We then proceeded to another coastal area. This is a property of a private owner; they have been developing this part of their resort for some years but on and off. So, until now it is still unfinished without any cottages, just a humble hut for some visitors to sit and relax. Thankfully, the area is still open so we were able to stroll around the and there was no caretaker that time. We were then greeted by the friendly guardians; they were so friendly that none of them barked and just greeted us with wiggling tails.

We then climbed the steps up, and the view up here was so beautiful and soothing to the eyes. It would have been a perfect spot for having a picnic. The doggos continued to accompany us here as if they wanted to show the place to us, but maybe they just wanted to have some treats. Unfortunately, we didn’t bring any food that we could share to them.

We stayed here for an hour, just happily chatting and taking some pictures. The weather was just perfect that time. I felt relaxed even if it was just for a short time. It felt good to be surrounded with the soothing beauty of nature, as if my worries just flew away. Just like how my hair was blown by the mild wind. Living in the city does not give you much chance to see the beach or go to the beach. This was a remote area so there were just the two of us and with our friendly canine companions. We regretted not bringing any food and drinks so we could extend our moment here. We longed to stay a bit more but we decided to go because we were still far away from the city. We didn't want to catch the afternoon traffic going back.
