This is the beautiful architecture of Bogota's cathedral (ESP/ENG)
Hello Hello, internet people, how are you? Today I want to show you some pictures I took when I was living in Bogotá a couple of years ago, and I was very impressed by the cathedral of the city because it has a high value not only religious but also artistic, cultural and architectural, so I would like to share with you my experience and everything I learned during my guided visit.
Hola Hola, gente de internet ¿Cómo están? hoy quiero mostrarles algunas fotografías que tomé cuando estuve viviendo en Bogotá hace un par de años, y es que me llamó muchísimo la atención la catedral de la ciudad porque tiene un alto valor no solo religioso sino artístico, cultural y arquitectónico, así que me gustaría compartir con ustedes mi experiencia y todo lo que aprendí durante mi visita guiada.
According to what the tour guide told us, the full name of this beautiful temple is Catedral Basílica Metropolitana y Primada de la Inmaculada Concepción y San Pedro de Bogotá, it was designed by Domingo de Petrés but was built between 1807 and 1823.
Según lo que nos contó el guía turístico, el nombre completo de este precioso templo es Catedral Basílica Metropolitana y Primada de la Inmaculada Concepción y San Pedro de Bogotá, fue diseñado por fue diseñado por Domingo de Petrés pero se construyó entre 1807 y 1823
In 1943 the Spanish architect Alfredo Rodríguez Orgaz reformed the façade while respecting the original plans, and between 1993 and 1997 some interior alterations were made in order to strengthen the structure so that it could withstand possible earthquakes such as the one in 1785, which brought the structure down and had to be rebuilt.
En 1943 el arquitecto español Alfredo Rodríguez Orgaz reformó la fachada pero sin dejar de respetar los planos originales, y en entre 1993 y 1997 se hicieron algunas reformas interiores con el fin de fortalecer la estructura para que pudiera resistir posibles sismos como el de 1785 que derribó la estructura y tuvieron que reconstruirla.
When I entered I was impressed by the beauty of the place, it consists of a beautiful central aisle and two naves with chapels, the chandeliers are beautiful and provide an elegant baroque style, although in reality the predominant style inside the building is neoclassical. But what impressed me the most was to know that those benches were the original ones, which date back to the 17th century.
Al entrar me impresionó la belleza del lugar, consta de un precio pasillo central y dos naves con capillas, los candelabros son bellísimos y aportan un elegante estilo barroco, aunque en realidad el estilo predominante en el interior del edificio es neoclásico. Pero lo que más me impresionó fue saber que esas bancos eran las originales, las cuales datan del siglo XVII
There is a beautiful altar dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus flanked by beautiful marble pillars. Everything is decorated with red roses and the flags of Colombia and the Vatican stand out.
Hay un precioso altar dedicado al sagrado corazón de Jesús flanqueado por bellos pilares de mármol. Todo está decorado por rosas rojas y resaltan las banderas de Colombia y el Vaticano.
The other altars are also beautiful, with a predominance of marble as well as pastel and golden colours, except for the altar to the Virgin Mary, which has blue tones that combine very well with the golden tone of the details.
Los otros altares también son preciosos, predomina el mármol además de los colores pastel y dorado, a excección del altar a la virgen María que tiene tonos azules que combinan muy bien con el tono dorado de los detalles.
The main altar is a beauty, as are the fourteen chapels of the catadral, the light colours bring a lot of light to the temple, and the wooden details give it sobriety.
El altar mayor es una belleza, al igual que las catorce capillas que tiene la catedral, los colores claros le aportan mucha luz al templo, y los detalles en madera le aportan sobriedad.
This is the presbytery, it looks beautiful in the photographs but it looks even more beautiful live, and on the left side of the photograph we can see the pulpit.
Este es el presbiterio, se ve bellísimo en las fotografías pero en vivo se ve aún más hermoso, y en la parte izquierda de la fotografía podemos ver el púlpito.
Art is everywhere, with beautiful paintings and sculptures, some by well-known artists.
El arte predomina por todas partes, hay pinturas y esculturas bellísimas, algunas de artistas muy reconocidos.
As I told you before, there are 14 chapels and all of them are beautiful, I love the arches and vaults.
Como les dije anteriormente hay 14 capillas y todas son bellísimas, me encantan los arcos y bóvedas.
Look at those beautiful domes, which also have details of religious paintings. From what little I know about architecture, I would venture to say that these beautiful columns are Jonic in style, i.e. the shaft has no grooves and a capital with spiral-shaped volutes on the sides.
Miren esas cúpulas tan hermosas, las cuales además tienen detalles de pinturas religiosas. Según lo poco que sé de arquitectura yo me atrevería a decir que esas bellísimas columnas son de estilo Jónico, es decir, el fuste no tiene estrías y un capitel con volutas en forma de espiral en los lados

And now I will show you what for me is the jewel in the crown as it impressed me very much, it is the organ, which was built in Barcelona Spain by Aquilino Amezua at the end of the 19th century, and at that time it had 1.808 pipes, although some of them were replaced due to damages suffered during the transport from Spain, but today it has 4.000 pipes. According to what the tour guide told us, the last player of this organ was an Italian called Egisto Giovanetti, who since he arrived in 1930 composed several works for this musical instrument, but when the social uprising called "El Bogotazo" occurred in 1948 he fled.
Y a continuación les mostraré lo que para mi es la joya de la corona ya que me impresionó mucho, se trata del órgano, el cual fue construido en Barcelona España por Aquilino Amezua a finales del siglo XIX, y en ese entonces tenía 1.808 tubos, aunque algunos de ellos se reemplazaron debido a los daños sufridos durante la transportación desde España, pero hoy en día tiene 4 mil tubos. Según lo que nos contó el guía turístico, el último interprete que tuvo este órgano fue un italiano llamado Egisto Giovanetti, quien desde que llegó en 1930 compuso varias obras para ese instrumento musical, pero cuando ocurrió el estallido social llamado "El Bogotazo" en 1948 huyó
