Le Sserafin's Disaster at Coachella (ESP/ENG)
Hello, people of the internet, I've been wanting to do this post for a long time and as a kpop lover I can't admit what happened within the 4th generation, at the Coachella festival by Le Sserafim because the fact is that, besides absorbing other types of rhythms like reggaeton, they are also absorbing mediocrity. It's no secret that since the fourth generation, kpop has been on the decline, prioritising commercialism over talent and quality, and that's what we'll talk about today, exemplified by this female group.
Hola, gente de Internet, hace tiempo que había querido hacer este post y es que, como amante del kpop no puedo admitir lo que pasó dentro de la 4ta generación, en el festival de Coachella por parte de Le Sserafim porque además de absorber otro tipo de ritmos como el reggaetón, también están absorbiendo la mediocridad. No es un secreto para nadie que a partir de la cuarta generación el kpop ha estado decayendo, priorizando lo comercial antes que el talento y la calidad, y es de lo que hablaremos hoy ejemplificado en este grupo femenino
The group is apparently complete between vocals, rappers and dancers, in fact they are already idols, i.e. they passed their debut, however, it was evident that in a real performance, i.e. without edits, with a long list of songs, Le Sserafim is unable to make a halfway decent performance. Comments like "You always talk about the last songs and they were already tired" "singing and dancing at the same time is too difficult" "the company didn't give them enough training" etc, are what their uncritical fans keep saying, but there are several things to take into account...
El grupo aparentemente esta completo entre vocales, raperas y bailarinas, de hecho ya son idols, es decir, pasaron su debut, sin embargo, quedó evidenciado que en una presentación real, es decir, sin ediciones, con una lista larga de canciones, Le Sserafim es incapaz de hacer una presentación medianamente decente. Comentarios como "siempre hablan de las ultimas canciones y ellas ya estaban cansadas" "cantar y bailar a la vez es muy difícil" "la compañía no les dio suficiente entrenamiento" etc, son los que van diciendo sus fans que no tienen sentido crítico, pero hay que tomar varias cosas en cuenta...
The general rule of Kpop what characterises and makes kpop is the preparation of the artists who perform it. They must audition to join an entertainment company, if they are selected, they become a trainee of the company and must train (learn singing, dancing, modelling, speech, public speaking, rap, music, etc.) then the applicant, depending on whether they will be a soloist or in a group, must train with the group until they do well (otherwise they go straight to the final exam). When the band is ready in the opinion of their leader and teachers, they take the final exam and if they pass it, their debut is scheduled.
La regla general del Kpop lo que caracteriza y hace que el kpop sea kpop es la preparación de los artistas que lo interpretan. Deben hacer audiciones para entrar a una compañía de entretenimiento, si quedan seleccionados, pasan a ser trainee de la empresa y deben entrenar (aprender canto, baile, modelaje, locución, oratoria, rap, música, etc) luego el aspirante, dependiendo de si será solista o estará en un grupo, debe entrenar con el grupo hasta que se hagan uno solo (si no directamente pasa al examen final) cuando el grupo esté listo en opinión de su líder y profesores, presentan el examen final y si lo aprueban, se pauta su debut.
As you can see it's a long process and a kind of filter that guarantees that the idols are very good at what they do, that's how we have gems like Super Junior, Exo, Shinee, Mamamoo, etc. I can't say that in the 4th generation there are no good groups (we have Black Pink and Stray Kids, for example) but it is true that the higher the generation, the lower the quality in general parameters.
Como ven es un proceso largo y una especie de filtro que garantiza que los idols sean muy buenos en lo que hacen, es así como tenemos joyas como Super Junior, Exo, Shinee, Mamamoo, etc. No puedo decir que en la 4ta generación no haya grupos buenos (tenemos a Black Pink y a Stray Kids, por ejemplo) pero si es cierto que a mayor generación, menor calidad en parámetros generales.
I knew this band with this song, Antifragile, and I fell in love, the band looked solid, nice voices, nice presence, excellent dancers (which they still are) and the song is very good, plus the choreography fascinates me. A few months ago I heard thanks to tiktok Smart, another very good song and as usual the choreography was very good.
Conocía este grupo con esta canción, Antifragile, y quedé enamorada, el grupo se veía sólido, lindas voces, linda presencia, excelentes bailarinas (que lo siguen siendo) y la canción es muy buena, además que la coreografía me fascina. Hace unos meses escuché gracias a tiktok Smart, otra canción muy buena y que como es costumbre su coreografía era muy buena.
The surprise for me was to see them perform this song at Coachella, and while the whole performance from start to finish was a disaster, this song was even more evident because several pundits and fans took the music out of the performance and you can see the disaster in their voices.
La sorpresa para mi fue verlas cantar esta canción en Coachella, y si bien toda la presentación de principio a fin fue un desastre, en esta canción se evidenció mucho más porque varios expertos y aficionados le sacaron la música a la presentación y se puede apreciar el desastre en sus voces.
Breathing problems, blanks and intonation are some of the deficiencies that could be heard in the girls. Considering that the idols train to avoid these flaws as much as possible and also considering that 4 of the 5 members were already debut idols who belonged to other bands, it is not acceptable to have made such a mediocre performance.

Teniendo en cuenta que los idols entrenan para en medida de lo posible no tener estas fallas y además teniendo también en cuenta que 4 de las 5 integrantes ya eran idols debutadas que pertenecían a otros grupos, no es aceptable haber hecho una presentación tan mediocre.
The rain of criticism was not long in coming as many fans and people who don't follow them considered it disrespectful to pay between 500 and 600 dollars to end up listening to this disaster, besides the fans deserve more, in the end you are paying for a product and the least you expect is that the product arrives to you in good quality. The excuses of their die-hard fans were unfounded when another kpop group in exactly the same conditions, showed up and displaced them, as their performance was excellent, it was also their first time at the festival, they are also 4th generation, it was the same day and they sang the same amount of time. I will put a comparison of both groups, both recorded with cameras from the event, and you can draw your own conclusions.
La lluvia de criticas no se hizo esperar ya que muchos fans y gente que no las sigue consideraron una falta de respeto el hecho de pagar entre 500 y 600 dólares para terminar oyendo ese desastre, además de que los fans merecen más, al final estás pagando por un producto y lo mínimo que se espera es que el producto llegue a ti en buena calidad. Las excusas de sus fans acérrimos quedaron sin fundamentos cuando otro grupo de kpop en exactamente las mismas condiciones, se presentó y las desplazó, ya que su presentación fue excelente, también era su primera vez en el festival, también son de 4ta generación, fue el mismo día y cantaron la misma cantidad de tiempo. Les pondré una comparativa de ambos grupos, ambas grabadas con cámaras del evento, y saquen ustedes sus propias conclusiones.
In short, 'as much as I like some of their songs now I know they are not organic and I can't cover the sun with a finger, they definitely have too much work to do and should continue to be trainees until they learn how to handle themselves properly on stage.
En resumen, por más que me gusten algunas de sus canciones ahora sé que no son orgánicas y no puedo tapar el sol con un dedo, definitivamente les falta demasiado trabajo y deberían seguir siendo trainee hasta que aprendan correctamente a como manejarse por completo en un escenario.

Reading your post was like Gossip gossip! hahaha I loved it. I did not know this group and much less the disappointment they gave as a concert. As you comment, they lack training and a lot, you can hear them exhausted in their voices and well no one said dancing and singing would be easy, that's why I admire Shakira and Beyoncé so much, along with Lady Gaga, you will never hear from them that low level of their songs because they train and prepare to the extreme with that before their concerts. Como comentas, les falta entrenamiento y mucho, se les escucha agotadas en la voz y bueno nadie dijo que bailar y cantar sería fácil, por eso admiro tanto a Shakira y a Beyoncé, junto con Lady Gaga, nunca escucharás de ellas ese bajo nivel de sus canciones porque entrenan y se preparan al extremo con eso antes de sus conciertos. Sí, de hecho no es una excusa por más difícil que sea cantar y bailar a la vez ya que los idols entrenan años para eso (de hecho puse los ejemplos de grupos que cumplen con todas las características que componen a los idols) cantan y bailan a la vez y tienen buena proyección y sostienen sus frases y notas sin desafinar.
De hecho la sociedad coreana está echando chispas porque como el kdrama, el kpop es cultura representativa de Corea y se sienten orgullosos de lo buenos que son sus idols "perfección" es lo que los suele caracterizar y que este grupo haya representado a Corea en un festival extranjero con ese resultado los mató, menos mal que el grupo de chicos al menos lo hizo excelente y mejoró la imagen del género y el país para los extranjeros que nunca habían oído kpop
vermon no sabia nada de eso, mis gustos son mas punk/rock, las únicas cantantes de por allá que me gustan más son japonesas, la verdad es que no sabía del chasco de este grupo, es una lástima ya que lo hacían muy bien. Yo prefiero a Utada Hikaru, Yui Makino, o Ayumi Hamasaki, muy poco escucho grupos coreanos pero sé que hay unos muy buenos con canciones pegajosas y no son los famosos de BTS sino otros como los que nombraste en tu post.
