Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince [Book Review] ESP/ENG
Hello, hello, people of the internet! How are you? I'm planning to get back to my Harry Potter book reviews, so this time I'm bringing you Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, my favorite book in the entire series, and the one with the closest connection to the second, Chamber of Secrets. So I invite you to join me for all the details and my opinion.
¡Hola Hola, gente de internet! ¿Cómo están? Pretendo retomar mis review de los libros de Harry Potter, así que en esta ocasión les traigo Harry Potter y el Príncipe Mestizo, mi libro preferido de toda la saga, y el que tiene una mayor conexión con el segundo, la Cámara Secreta, así que los invito a acompañarme para conocer todos los detalles y mi opinión.
On this occasion Harry is visited by Dumbledore in Surray, at his Muggle uncles' house, he tells him that Sirius Black left him his house as an inheritance in addition to the house-elf Kreacher, which Harry prefers to donate to the service of the school since the elf can't stand him, but most importantly of all is that Dumbledore, sensing his fateful end, dedicates himself to the task of instructing Harry in everything concerning the life of Voldemort, with the clear intention that Harry knows his enemy well, as well as his weak points in order to defeat him, in this way we know who Harry's greatest enemy was before becoming the dark and feared Dark Lord, Dumbledore's pensieve becomes a window of discovery that surprises both the protagonist and the audience.
En esta ocasión Harry es visitado por Dumbledore en Surray, en casa de sus tíos muggles, él le dice que Sirius Black le dejó su casa en herencia además del elfo doméstico Kreacher, el cuál Harry prefiere donar al servicio del colegio en vista de que el elfo no lo soporta, pero lo más importante de todo es que Dumbledore, presintiendo su fatídico final, se dedica a la labor de instruir a Harry en todo lo concerniente a la vida de Voldemort, con la clara intención de que Harry conozca bien a su enemigo, así como sus puntos débiles para poder derrotarlo, de esta manera sabemos quién era el mayor enemigo de Harry antes de convertirse en el oscuro y temido Señor Tenebroso, el pensadero de Dumbledore se convierte en una ventana de descubrimiento que sorprende tanto al protagonista como a la audiencia.
In my opinion, this is one of the books in the series that is worst represented in the film, since they cut out a lot of its essence, they omitted scenes that were very important and that all the fans wanted to see, for example where we meet the Gaunts (Voldemort's family) or the escape of Merope (Voldemort's mother) from her house, or those scenes where Snape worked as the "UNFORGIVABLE" D.A.C.O teacher haha 😅 but anyway, that's why I've always preferred the literary versions. And that's what I like most about this book, that it goes into great depth about Tom Riddle (one of my favorite characters) before he became Voldemort. I like Tom Riddle more than Voldemort because his younger self is more cautious and methodical, perhaps knowing that he still had a long way to go in his magical knowledge, but that forced him to be twice as cautious. He also used his powers of persuasion and manipulation more. His adult self is more arrogant, so he tends to underestimate others, and that has always been his biggest mistake.
Según mi opinión este es uno de los libros de la saga que está peor representado en la película, ya que cortaron mucho de su esencia, omitieron escenas que eran muy importantes y que todos los fans deseábamos ver, por ejemplo donde conocemos a los Gaunt (la familia de Voldemort) o la huida de Mérope (la madre de Voldemort) de su casa, o esas escenas donde Snape se desempeñaba como profesor de D.C.A.O "IMPERDONABLE" jaja 😅 pero bueno, por eso siempre he preferido las versiones literarias. Y eso es lo que más me gusta de este libro, que profundiza muchísimo en Tom Riddle (uno de mis personajes preferidos) antes de convertirse en Voldemort. Me gusta Tom Riddle más que Voldemort porque en esa versión más joven de él es más precavido y metódico, tal vez a sabiendas de que aún le faltaba un buen camino por recorrer en sus conocimientos mágicos, pero eso lo obligaba a ser el doble de precavido, además usaba más sus dotes de persuasión y manipulación, su versión adulta es más soberbia, así que tiende a subestimar a los demás y ese siempre fue su gran error.
But one of the most essential things this book aims to show is Harry Potter's maturity in having to make very difficult decisions, as well as his resilience and courage to take on everything he will face because he is the Chosen One. But at the same time, it aims to show the danger that exists in ignoring warnings and letting oneself be guided by the unknown, as Harry is driven by curiosity when he finds the Half-Blood Prince's notes in an old Potions guidebook, and decides to follow the instructions, ignoring the consequences. This puts Snape as an important focus in the story, as he finally reveals a side of him that, although everyone suspected, few had seen. In addition, through those brief but extremely important notes, Severus Snape becomes the unspoken protagonist of the entire story.
Pero una de las cosas más esenciales que este libro pretende mostrar es la madurez de Harry Potter al tener que tomar decisiones muy difíciles, así como su capacidad de resiliencia y la valentía para asumir todo lo que tendrá que afrontar por causa de ser el elegido. Pero al mismo tiempo pretende mostrar el peligro que existe en ignorar las advertencias y dejarse guiar por lo desconocido, pues Harry se deja llevar por la curiosidad cuando consigue los apuntes del Príncipe Mestizo en un viejo libro guía de Pociones, y decide seguir las instrucciones ignorando las consecuencias que podría tener. Esto pone a Snape como un foco importante en la historia, ya que finalmente deja ver una parte de él que aunque todos sospechaban pocos habían visto, además, a través de esas breves pero importantísimas anotaciones, Severus Snape se convierte en el protagonista tácito de toda la historia.
We can also see the most vulnerable side of Draco and Narcissa Malfoy, who have always been shown as tough, arrogant and haughty, but here we see their more human side, fear, anguish and uncertainty. Narcissa even kneels before Snape to beg him to protect her son Draco and take his place in case he cannot fulfill his mission, in that scene we witness the love of a mother, Narcissa steps down from her position of privilege and shows her vulnerability because she simply does not care, her only priority is to save her son. While Draco for his part strives to appear impassive, unfathomable and dangerous, but he is nothing more than a terrified and tormented boy, he does not want to hurt Dumbledore, he has never killed anyone, but he faces the possibility of Voldemort hurting his family and this fills him with despair.
También podemos ver el lado más vulnerable de Draco y Narcissa Malfoy, quienes siempre se han mostrado como duros, soberbios y altivos, pero aquí vemos su lado más humano, el miedo, la angustia y la incertidumbre. Narcissa incluso se arrodilla ante Snape para suplicar que proteja a su hijo Draco y tome su lugar en caso de que él no pueda cumplir su cometido, en esa escena somos testigos del amor de una madre, Narcissa baja de su posición de privilegio y muestra su vulnerabilidad porque simplemente no le importa, su única prioridad es salvar a su hijo. Mientras que Draco por su parte se esfuerza en parecer impasible, insondable y peligroso, pero no es más que un chico aterrado y atormentado, no quiere hacerle daño a Dumbledore, él nunca ha matado a nadie, pero se enfrenta ante la posibilidad de que Voldemort lastime a su familia y esto lo llena de desesperación.
The narrative of this book highlights the importance of understanding the past in order to forge the future. By unraveling Voldemort's origins, Harry was able to better understand him and, in a way, anticipate his actions, something that Voldemort could never have foreseen. On the other hand, I obviously have to mention the new elements that appear in this book and that I found interesting, such as the Inferi, which are presented to us as an even darker version of the zombies we're used to seeing in film and literature, and the Horcruxes, a sinister and unnatural way of preserving existence.
La narrativa de este libro resalta la importancia de entender el pasado para poder forjar el futuro, al desentrañar los orígenes de Voldemort Harry pudo entenderlo mejor y de cierta manera anticipar sus acciones, algo que desde luego Voldemort nunca pudo prever. Por otra parte obviamente tengo que mencionar los elementos nuevos que aparecen en este libro y que me parecieron interesantes, como son los Inferis, a los cuales nos presentan como una versión aún más oscura que los zombies que estamos acostumbrados a ver en el cine y la literatura, y los horrocruxes, una forma tétrica y antinatural de preservar la existencia.
