Everything's fine [WebToon Review] ESP/ENG
Hey internet people. How's it going? Today I want to talk to you about a webtoon I used to absolutely love, but which I'm not enjoying as much as I used to. I kept reading it more out of curiosity to see how it ends than because I actually like it. It's called "Everything Is Fine."
Hola, gente de Internet. ¿Todo bien? Hoy quiero hablarles de un webtoon que amé con locura y que hoy día ya no me está gustando tanto como antes, y que seguí leyéndolo más por curiosidad de saber cómo termina que porque realmente me guste, se trata de "Todo Está Bien"
The story follows Maggie and her husband Sam, who live in a nice neighborhood, but from the beginning, it's clear that although they say everything is fine, it really isn't. The first and most noticeable thing is that everyone has cat heads—it's like a kind of helmet they can't remove, glued to their heads. Everything in the town revolves around cats, and it's implied that they can't speak freely about anything outside the plan or the rules.
La historia sigue el arco de Maggie y su esposo Sam, que viven en un lindo vecindario, pero desde un principio se nos da a entender que aunque ellos digan que todo está bien, realmente no es así. Lo primero y más notorio es que todos tienen cabezas de gato, es como un tipo de casco que no pueden quitarse y que está pegado a sus cabezas, todo en la ciudad tiene que ver con gatos y se nos da a entender que no pueden hablar libremente sobre cualquier cosa ajena al plan o a las reglas.
We also notice that there are no children and that they are all married couples without children, because they have gone far away (at the moment we do not know where they are) but as more time passes, Maggie is not satisfied and decides to find out what the heck is going on exactly, she wants to have answers.
También notamos que no hay niños y que todos son parejas de casados que no tienen hijos, porque estos se fueron lejos (de momento no sabemos dónde están) pero conforme pasa más el tiempo, Maggie no se conforma y decide averiguar qué rayos pasa exactamente, desea tener respuestas.
I'm going to start with all the positive points because even though I don't like how things are going (due to various factors that I will mention later) I have to acknowledge that the webtoon has very good positive aspects.
Voy a empezar por todos los puntos positivos ya que pese a que no me guste como van yendo las cosas (por diversos factores que diré más adelante) tengo que reconocer que el webtoon tiene muy buenos aspectos positivos.
For example, its art is appealing; the first thing you think is "why on earth do the characters have cat heads?" and just by reading the first episode, you're already eager for answers, but each episode leaves more questions than answers (although some are resolved) and that's what keeps the webtoon captivated.
Por ejemplo su arte es atractivo, lo primero que piensas es "por qué rayos los personajes tienen cabezas de gato?" y con solo leer el primer episodio, ya estás deseando obtener respuestas, pero cada episodio deja más preguntas que respuestas (aunque si se van resolviendo algunas) y eso hace que el webtoon te mantenga atrapado leyendo.
Another positive aspect is that the story and characters are very good, the premise is excellent and captivating, the handling of mystery and horror is brilliant, and the character development is superb, since you can empathize with the protagonists even though they do questionable things, which shows incredible talent in the writer
Otro aspecto positivo es que la historia y los personajes son muy buenos, la premisa es buenísima y atrapante, el manejo del misterio y el terror es genial, y el desarrollo de personajes es excelso, ya que puedes empatizar con los protagonistas aunque hagan cosas cuestionables, lo que muestra un talento increíble en el escritor.
There are characters like "Just a Moment" which is called that because that's all it says "Just a Moment" 😄 and yet, somehow the writer manages to win the reader's affection without saying anything more than that phrase.
Hay personajes como "Un Momento" el cuál se llama así por qué es lo único que dice "un momento" 😄 y aún así, de alguna manera el escritor logra que sin decir nada más que esa frase, se gane el cariño del lector.
On the other hand, Maggie is my favorite character (along with Horace and "Just a Moment"). She's a strong-willed woman who stands by her convictions, and despite her fears, she faces them head-on. She's selfless, sacrificing everything she loves for the greater good.
Por otro lado, Maggie es mi personaje preferido (junto con Horace y "Un Momento") ella es una mujer de armas tomar que se aferra a su convicción, y a pesar del miedo que siente, ella lo enfrenta. Ella es altruista, sacrificando todo lo que ama por un bien mayor.
Judith is also a character I like; she's very similar to Maggie. Horace is a middle-aged man, a sort of MacGyver, who can do a lot with very little. He also knows about computers, weapons, etc., and although he's a bit rude and pragmatic, he's quite charismatic.
Judith también es un personaje que me gusta, es muy parecido a Maggie, y Horace es un hombre de mediana edad, una especie de Macgyver, que puede hacer mucho con poco, también sabe de informática, armas, etc y a pesar de que es un poco grosero y pragmático, es bastante carismático.
The problem with this webtoon is the ambition of its writer, and I will explain point by point why he is ruining his own webtoon.
Lo malo que tiene este webtoon es la ambición de su escritor, y explicaré punto por punto porqué está arruinando su propio webtoon
The episodes are getting shorter and shorter: He posts them every 7 or 13 days, if I'm not mistaken, so we readers have to wait that many days to read at most 10 panels, or we have to pay to see those 10 panels in advance, which is a lot to get for very little (from our side, of course) because the writer lines his pockets at the expense of the naive readers who follow this game.
Cada vez los episodios son más cortos: Él los Postea cada 7 o 13 días, si no estoy mal, así que los lectores esperamos esa cantidad de días para leer a lo mucho 10 viñetas, o tenemos que pagar para ver esas 10 viñetas anticipado, lo que es mucho para obtener poco (de nuestra parte, claro) porque el escritor se llena los bolsillos a costillas de los ingenuos lectores que siguen este juego.
It's clear he wants to extend the webtoon to earn more money, given that it's already been running for 4 years and he's still posting.
Es claro que quiere alargar más el webtoon para ganar más dinero, siendo que ya lleva en emisión 4 años y aún sigue posteando.
At this point (the latest episode), the big reveal feels downright silly and unsurprising, since the culprit behind everything is a tool we use so much these days that it doesn't surprise anyone. What's worse is that back in 2022, when the webtoon premiered, this idea was incredibly revolutionary, but because the author dragged everything out unnecessarily, the revelation became outdated and even ridiculous. The same thing happened with other events that make you think, "What? All that effort just to die on the shore?" It's simply disappointing. Combined with what I already mentioned about the writer dragging out the webtoon, this makes it end up being boring. Even so, I want to see how the characters' stories end up, although at this rate, if we don't get a conclusion soon, I'd rather wait for a summary in a few years.
Para la altura a la que voy (el último episodio en emisión) la super revelación se siente incluso tonta y poco sorprendente, ya que la culpable de todo lo que pasa es una herramienta que usamos tanto hoy día que no sorprende a nadie, y lo peor es que en 2022 cuando se estrenó el webtoon está idea era súper revolucionaria, pero como el autor alargó todo innecesariamente, la idea de la revelación quedó obsoleta y hasta ridícula. Lo mismo sucedió con otros eventos que te hacen pensar "¿qué? ¿tanto nadar para morir en la orilla?" es simplemente decepcionante, aunado a lo que ya dije de que el escritor alarga el webtoon, esto hace que se termine haciendo aburrido, pero aún así pues quiero ver cómo terminan los personajes, aunque al paso que vamos si no nos ofrece un final pronto mejor espero algún resumen en unos años.
Overall, the webtoon is pretty good, it's excellent, and although I've been disappointed lately, it's still worth reading, at least taking a look at the previous seasons, and that way you can see for yourselves what it's about, since the story is excellent and quite intriguing.
En general está bien casi todo el webtoon, es buenísimo, y aunque últimamente me tenga decepcionada, si que vale la pena leerlo, al menos echar el vistazo a las temporadas anteriores, y de esta forma ustedes podrán comprobar por ustedes mismos de que trata, ya que la historia es buenísima y bastante intrigante.
