Choosing instant coffees [ESP/ENG]

Hello, everyone at #CinnamonCupCoffee. Today, I want to share my experience choosing instant coffee with you. Yesterday, my sister and I were shopping at the supermarket, and our favorite section is always the coffee aisle. At that moment, we each followed our instincts and chose a different brand or type of coffee to try at home. This time, I wanted to go for instant coffee because it's much easier for me to prepare in the mornings before I go to work. When it comes to instant coffee, Nescafé is the leading brand, and although my coworkers, who are baristas, usually say that this brand of coffee isn't actually that good because it's over-roasted and, according to them, has a slight burnt taste, I've always loved it anyway. I respect my coworkers' opinions because, as baristas, they have a more educated palate than I do in this area, but honestly, I let myself be guided by my instincts and my own tastes.

So, on this occasion, Nescafé Gold caught my attention, not only because I like the packaging, but also because the label says that the coffee beans are freeze-dried, which means, according to what I have learned from my colleagues at work, that the coffee beans were previously ground, then the drink is prepared with those beans, and when it is liquid, it is frozen before being taken to a vacuum chamber where the water is separated in a process called “sublimation,” which should guarantee a smoother grind. This is very important because I have bought other brands of coffee that are supposedly soluble, according to the label, but in reality, the powder never dissolves in water. However, when the label says it is freeze-dried coffee, it is supposed to be

According to the label, this coffee has a perfect roast level with an intense flavor and aroma, as Arabica beans were used. However, what made me hesitate a little was the high price. $10.85 for only 100 grams. That's a lot of money 😱. However, I made an exception just this once because I was really curious to try this version of Nescafé.

Well, I won't deny it, the taste was delicious, and I especially liked how quickly it dissolved, something I've always liked about Nescafé. I prepared it with a little milk because I love lattes. I usually drink a little and save the rest to drink on my way to work in this thermos that keeps the heat quite well, so I liked the practicality this presentation offers. Honestly, I felt an intense coffee flavor and an exquisite aroma, so even though I've been told that coffee loses a lot of quality in the process of making it soluble, it tasted good to me and I didn't find any major differences with specialty coffee. However, to be totally honest with you, I think the price is quite excessive, considering that there are other Nescafé presentations that are much cheaper and have the same flavor and quality.

But I don't just love instant coffee for drinking, I think it's an excellent option for making desserts. As a pastry chef, I can say that this is one of my favorite ingredients in baking because it's so practical, saving me a lot of time by skipping the traditional preparation process.

Hola Hola gente de #CinnamonCupCoffee Hoy quiero contarles como fue mi experiencia eligiendo cafés solubles, ya que ayer mi hermana y yo estábamos de compras en el supermercado, y en esas ocasiones nuestra sección favorita es la del café, en ese momento cada una se deja llevar por su instinto y elige una marca o tipo de café diferente para probar en casa. Para esta ocasión quise optar por un café soluble ya que para mi es mucho más fácil de preparar por las mañanas antes de irme a trabajar. En materia de Cafés solubles la marca Nescafé lleva la delantera, y aunque mis compañeros de trabajo, los cuales son baristas usualmente dicen que esta marca de café en realidad no es tan buena porque el tostado es excesivo y según ellos se siente un ligero sabor a quemado, a mí de todos modos siempre me ha encantado, es decir, respeto el criterio de mis compañeros de trabajo ya que como baristas que son tienen un paladar más educado que el mío en esta materia, pero honestamente me dejo llevar por mi instinto y mis propios gustos.

Así que para esta ocasión me llamó la atención este Nescafé Gold, no solo porque me gusta el empaque, sino porque la etiqueta dice que los granos de café están liofilizados, lo cuál significa, según lo que he aprendido de mis compañeros en el trabajo, que los granos de café fueron previamente molidos, luego preparan la bebida con esos granos y cuando está líquida la congelan antes de llevarla a una cámara de vacío donde separan el agua en un proceso llamado "sublimación", lo cuál debería garantizar un molido más suave, y esto es muy importante porque he comprado otras marcas de cafés que supuestamente son solubles, según la etiqueta pero en realidad el polvo nunca se disuelve en el agua, sin embargo cuando la etiqueta dice que realmente es café liofilizado se supone que lo es.

Según lo que marca la etiqueta este café tiene un grado de tostado perfecto con un sabor y aroma intensos ya que fueron usados granos de tipo arábico. Sin embargo lo que me hizo dudar un poco fue el alto precio. 10.85 $ por solo 100 gramos. Eso es mucho dinero 😱. Sin embargo hice una excepción solo por esta vez porque realmente tuve mucha curiosidad de probar esta versión del Nescafé.

Y bueno, no lo negaré, el sabor estaba delicioso y sobre todo me gustó lo rápido que se disolvió, algo que siempre me ha gustado de Nescafé. Lo preparé con un poco de leche porque amo el latte, usualmente bebo un poco y guardo el resto para beber de camino al trabajo en este termo que conserva bastante bien el calor, así que me gustó la practicidad que ofrece esta presentación. Honestamente sentí un sabor intenso a café y un aroma exquisito, así que a pesar de que me han dicho que el café pierde mucha calidad en el proceso para volverlo soluble, para mi supo bien y no encontré grandes diferencias con el café de especialidad, sin embargo, para ser totalmente honesta con ustedes pienso que el precio es bastante excesivo, tomando en cuenta que hay otras presentaciones de Nescafé mucho más económicas de igual sabor y calidad 🤷‍♀

Pero no solo amo el café soluble para beberlo, pienso que es una excelente opción para realizar postres, lo digo como Chef pastelera que soy, este es uno de mis ingredientes favoritos en la pastelería por su practicidad ya que me permite ahorrar mucho tiempo saltándome la elaboración tradicional.
