Anne of the Green Gables [Review] ESP/ENG
Hello everyone! How are you? Today I finally finished reading this book. I must confess that I did it out of curiosity after watching the Netflix series and then a couple of other versions I found online. However, even though I can say they are good adaptations, nothing can compare to the book because of the powerful emotions it conveys in each chapter.
¡Hola Hola, gente de internet! ¿Cómo están? Hoy finalmente pude terminar de leer este libro, debo confesar que lo hice motivada por la curiosidad luego de haber visto la serie de Netflix y luego un par de versiones más que encontré por ahí, sin embargo, a pesar de que puedo decir que son buenas adaptaciones, nada puede compararse con el libro por la gran carga de emociones que transmite en cada capítulo.
Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert are two siblings who live on a beautiful farm, a place called Green Gables. They both agreed to adopt a child to help with the farm work, but due to a logistical error, they send a girl instead of a boy (Anne). But she is not just any girl; she has a great personality, talks a lot (with a very extensive vocabulary for her age), and although at first Marilla doesn't want to accept her and even decides to send her back to the orphanage, little by little Anne, with her wit, liveliness, and kind heart, wins the respect, admiration, and affection not only of the Cuthbert siblings but of all of Avonlea.
Matthew y Marilla Cuthbert son dos hermanos que viven en una hermosa granja, un lugar llamado Tejas Verdes, ambos se pusieron de acuerdo en adoptar un niño para que pudiera ayudarlo en las labores de la granja, pero por un error de logística envían una niña en lugar de un niño (Anne) pero ella no es cualquier niña, tiene una gran personalidad, habla muchísimo (con un vocabulario muy extenso para su edad además) y a pesar de que al inicio Marilla no quiere aceptarla y hasta decide devolverla al orfanato, poco a poco Anne, con sus ocurrencias, vivacidad y buen corazón, se gana el respeto, la admiración y el cariño, no solo de los hermanos Cuthbert, sino de todo Avonlea.
The whole book is full of mischief Anne gets up to and mistakes she makes, not with bad intentions, but because she's searching for her own identity, like that time she dyed her hair black because she hated being a redhead 🤣 but it backfired because her hair turned green. But in the end, through her experiences, the girl begins to mature, showing increasing interest in acquiring new knowledge, but she never gives up her humble and altruistic personality, always thinking of others before herself.
Todo el libro está lleno de travesuras que Anne hace o de errores que comete pero no con malas intenciones, sino porque está en la búsqueda de su propia identidad, como esa ocasión en que se tiñó el pelo de negro porque odiaba ser pelirroja 🤣 pero le salió mal porque su cabello se tornó verde, pero al final de cuentas la niña, a través de sus experiencias comienza a madurar, demuestra cada vez más interés por adquirir nuevos conocimientos pero nunca renuncia a su personalidad humilde y altruista, siempre pensando en los demás antes que ella misma.
The entire story aims to showcase personal growth, perseverance as a driving force for achieving goals, the search for identity, and love for family. At the same time, it highlights the crucial role of imagination in children's lives, as it often served as the ideal refuge where Anne could overcome adversity, especially before arriving in Avolea. Anne matures, and after navigating each stage of her life successfully, her free and spontaneous personality blends seamlessly into her new environment. Although Marilla (the most rigid of the siblings) sometimes tried to restrain her, she also learned to let her be herself. Thus, Marilla is one of the characters who undergoes the most significant development.
Toda la historia pretende mostrar como eje principal el crecimiento personal, la perseverancia como impulso para lograr objetivos, la búsqueda de la identidad y el amor por la familia, pero al mismo tiempo resalta la gran importancia que tiene la imaginación en la vida de los niños, ya que esta muchas veces fue el refugio ideal en el cuál Anne pudo superar las adversidades, en especial antes de llegar a Avolea. Anne logra madurar pero luego de vivir muy bien cada etapa, su personalidad libre y espontanea logró encajar muy bien en su nuevo entorno porque a pesar de que Marilla (quien era la más rígida de los hermanos) a veces la contenía, también aprendió a dejarla ser, así que Marilla es uno de los personajes que más evolucionó.
One of the things I liked most, that I definitely loved about this novel, is the narrative style of its author, Lucy Maud Montgomery, as it is rich in detail. She is very meticulous when describing landscapes and situations, so the reader has no trouble at all entering the context and almost experiencing firsthand what the characters in the story are going through. It is even relaxing to imagine yourself in the shade of a tree while the soft breeze moves your hair, and far away, you can see the lovely and welcoming house of the Cuthberts.
Una de las cosas que más me gustó, que definitivamente amé de esta novela es el estilo narrativo de su autora, Lucy Maud Montgomery, ya que es rico en detalles, ella es muy minuciosa a la hora de describir paisajes y situaciones, así que al lector no le cuesta para nada entrar en contexto y casi experimentar en carne propia lo mismo que los personajes de la historia, es incluso relajante imaginarse a la sombra de un árbol mientras la suave brisa mueve tu cabello, y allá a lo lejos, puedes ver linda y acogedora casa de los Cuthbert.
