THE OTHER SIDE OF CHARITY WE DON'T SEE
Good morning everyone you're welcome to my blog today.
A little act of charity what comes to mind when we talk about charity what comes to mind, charity has to do it giving in any kind or form. It could be given of money, food stuff, palliative, clothes and so many others and allows us to lend a helping hand to the needy. Charity in the health sectors is rendering health services to dose who are not able to afford them. Donations to orphanages and schools for the disabled.
Helping those out on the streets with no one to give them shelter or food bringing them out of the streets and making them look at life from a different angle and see that there is still hope at the end of the day. A lot of charity movements have been made by top influential people in the country not just in Nigeria here but all over the world there are people who need charity and their people who charity has changed their life took them from taking them from grass to grace.
This is my entry for #hivelearners weekly contest edition 2 with the topic ( A LITTLE CHARITY ). What if charity goes into the wrong hands, have we ever thought of that well I guess this weekly contest has made me to think about that. How exactly are we sure that the money donated for charity purposes are used for what it is donated for. It is hard these days to see people that have integrity and are honest to carry out such delicate task given to them carefully and with honesty.
I have seen cases like this where donations have been made for charity purposes and the people who are in charge or those who receive this donations and are in the position to distribute it to the people who need them end up diverting the funds meant for the less privileged, the sick and the needy to themselves and their own families that is very bad that is corruption in the highest order. Our nation, our country and the world at large would be a better place if we have more honest people and more trustworthy people who have the love and zeal to care for humanity and help people who are helpless.
Yes I have made donations mostly for orphanages, so while I was in school we do visit the orphanage once every month for my church most times we cook for them, buy them snacks, buy them toiletries and provisions. All the basic things that the kids need one thing we don't do is actually going with cash because of this particular issue how are you sure that that money will be used for what is supposed to be used for. Most times we take things that we can distribute to them individually by ourselves we don't just take it and give it to the director and say distribute this to be kids or use this to cook for them we don't do that because you can never trust to what people can do, especially when money is involved and when power is involved.
So I would like to share this experience there was this particular time while I was still in the hostel that some girls would go around collecting clothes that we were not wearing again and asking for food stuff that you have and money stating that they want to do donations for charity in orphanages and some school outreach and so on. The things that I personally I came back with I give them and sometimes I take things that are no longer used in the house ,maybe they cloths that my younger siblings have out grown. I take them back to school so that if I see this people I give it to them some some of them too are also of our age people who don't have anybody to take care of them we the students we give us our own clothes to them.
And you know what made me regret this ,there was this day that my roommate and I you went out and will happen to see one of the clothes that my girlfriend gave out for charity project on a student's body guess who the students was ,one of the girls that came to the hostel asking for palliative for a charity project that they want to carry out in an orphanage.
And I asked myself is she the charity project why are you wearing those clothes how are we even sure that all the things that we gave that you gave it to them. Or we were just robbed of what we have and you used it for yourself all in the name of charity that is very bad. And the see this is why people cannot be trusted for me I'm a Christian and I leave it to God who knows the heart to see and judge however he knows best.

Truly charity is more than giving or donation, but transparency, truth and fulfilling the purpose indeed not divertions or mismanaged.

Interesting story.
It would be really wrong if the clothe she wore is actually the one you donated. People really can't be trusted.
I love the idea behind how you church distributes the items and the decision not to give money.
Its a smart move and it ensures that the items get to the people that need them and not the pocket of the greedy.
