DIY HAIR HACK
Hello, everyone! You are welcome to my blog today.
DIY hair making, when I came across this weekly prompt, my heart leaped for joy because this is an experience I have been waiting to share. I often surprise myself when I do this, which has generated a lot of income for me in school and saved me from personal expenses. I am very grateful for it and always want to help people around me with it. Discovering my talent is the best thing that has happened to me to date. Let's dive into the full story.

My mom was one of those women who didn't want to spend money at hair salons. She would sit me down and use a black thread to create the legendary syngas hairstyle or tie my hair up. That was the only hairstyle she knew, regardless of whether I loved it or not. However, she always did it well, and the results were always neat and perfect. Sometimes, she would even make little gowns for me with her sewing machine. The funny part is that she never learned any of this; it was just her God-given talent. I am always amazed when I watch her sew.
As I grew into a beautiful young lady and got into secondary school, I realized I could weave my hair myself. I was amazed because I never learned this anywhere. Over time, when I got into university, it was a whole new world, and as a student, you are not supposed to depend solely on your parents. During my time in the hostel, my roommates noticed that I never visited any hairdressers on campus because I would just go online, choose a hairstyle I liked, and perfectly do it myself. They were all shocked and marveled at how beautiful it turned out.
Sharing my experience as a baker and a hairstylist. However, I want to talk about the most recent experience. I never learned how to style hair, but as fate would have it, I can style hair perfectly. Nevertheless, there are some styles that I am not really proficient at. I get nervous when asked to do these styles because I know that I am not good at them or have never tried them before.
It so happened that my boss at work found out that I could style hair because I styled my own hair. She then asked me to style her hair, specifically requesting "boohoo" braids. I agreed. When I looked at the pictures, I hesitated, thinking, "Can I really do this?" Despite my doubts, I did not show any fear and kept looking at the picture multiple times, reassuring myself that I could do it, while still battling my feelings of inadequacy.
On the day of styling, everything began with getting the wrong color of hair extensions – there were three different colors, and the curls were a different color. At this point, I silently prayed for a successful outcome.
As we started styling the hair, the lady had a large scalp and thick hair, so it literally took me the entire day.
As the hairstyle progressed, it was turning out well, resembling the picture. I was still hopeful that she would be pleased with it. I put in my best effort to ensure it was neat, well-organized, and the curls were bouncy. Upon completing the hairstyle and seeing the smile on her face, I felt content. But then, the thought crept in – "Do I truly deserve the praise she is giving?" Unbeknownst to her, I had struggled a lot with self-doubt about my ability to style her hair as she wanted.

They started booking me to style their hair, and they paid for my services. They would always ask, "Where did you learn?" and I would respond, "No, I didn't. I just know my way around, and my creativity was top-notch." This skill or talent has helped me in so many ways, and to think I never studied it for a day. I became well-known for my skills until I graduated.
To date, I can count how many times I have gone to a salon to get my hair done. I do it myself, and for my ladies out there who understand the cost of hair styling, I must say I am very lucky to have such a skill and talent that I never learned.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today.
Wow, this is beautiful.
Thinking of the fact that you didn't learn it, it was just natural and you could even make hair for yourself. It's more than impressive. And talking about self doubt while making hair for your boss, that's understandable.
So good to see you're doing well, and biko, let's start sharing the proceeds from your hairstyling work o 😁🫣🫣
Thanks for sharing.
♥️♥️♥️
I just dey imagine as you dey plait her hair you just messed it up and did rubbish. The kind of nonsense you'll hear for days eeehn. Thank God it worked out in the end. Honestly doubt is something that has kept a lot of us under and restricted from reaching our full potentials. I am proud of your natural talent not everyone can boost being able to replicate things they see especially if it's just a picture.
I know of this girl in my area who also plaits her hair, although I think she learnt it from watching her mother plait others, and it was her stubborn nature of not wanting to sit down or wait patiently for someone else to plait her hair. Truly, it is a gift to be able to plait your hair yourselves; nobody will do shakara for you because of hair styling.
