DANGERS OF NATURAL DISASTERS ( FLOODING)

Natural disasters are natural events that lead to great impact on our natural surfaces, some of which include volcanic, flooding, erosion, tsunami and earthquake. Natural disasters disrupts the balance of the earth surface and causes havoc to the population inhabiting in a particular residence more times it is not easy to control or apply preventive measures and salvage the situation at hand and in most cases it leads to loss of life and properties ,most people have their homes destroyed by earthquake or their farms swept away by the flooding this caused by tsunamis and they find it difficult to recover their lost.

My experience of natural disasters is based on flooding, and it was indeed a very bad experience. In my location then the people who lived within the environment where major farmers and growing rice were a major part of their farming produce and as we know rice farms are done near the waters so they can grow well.

And these people also have their houses all around each other and close to the waters and the houses and not built with good and durable materials to withstand wind and flood when they hit.

So, during my visit there it was at that time when water tides rise above their limits and overflowing, they tried to take preventive measures to protect their houses. So, they get a lot of bags and fill them with sand and use them to make short walls around their houses and the front of their doors and their windows too. They believe that this helps them to stabilize the current of the water when the flood hits.

And in their farms they also do the same thing but this time even with all the preventive measures put in place the flood that season that came then was too much and the whole farm got wiped off not sparing a single grain and it lead to very poor harvest that year and the people and their house were not spared some of the houses weren’t spared and some life’s were lost.

Preventive measures that could have been taken to prevent huge loss during flooding are to build tall and strong walls to protect the houses and farmlands and the houses of the population that reside there should be built with stronger and durable equipment’s to withstand the flood.

It was by some miracle that we managed to survive the disaster, and it took time for the residence to recover all that they lost during the flood. Survival tips that I would give out is to always build good houses with quality materials, water bodies should be fully protected, and farmlands should be properly equipped to protect the crops when flood hits.

There are so many things that need to be put in place to prevent natural disasters from taking a very big toll on the nation and the government should put a lot of measures in place to protect the people.
