I never thought I'd actually like Emilia Pérez. I still don't fully understand it, but I know I love it. Maybe it's because Zoe Saldana and Selena Gomez are in the movie. Whatever the reason, Emilia Pérez has left a lasting impression on me.

As I reflected on the movie, several aspects stood out to me. Here are five things that intrigued me about Emilia Pérez:
1.Emilia Pérez is a Musical: Over my little time as an observer, I have watched many musicals and animated movies with catchy tunes. But I never thought I would feel the pain of the characters in a Spanish movie through a musical. Rita's (Zoe Saldana) heart-wrenching songs made me wonder if my skin tone and gender would influence my career decisions or life in general.

1. Manitas : He said something about society making him who he was and how he didn't want to be that guy, how he had been protecting who he really was inside. I felt sad for manitas, he's character reminds me of the agbero's on the streets of naija and makes me wonder, if they could do it again under different circumstances would they change who they where and become who they wanted to be. I'll never know.

2. Emilia : I loved what she was trying to do in the end of the movie. Trying to right the wrongs her character Manitas made in his lifetime but according to Five from the Umbrella Academy "no matter how much you save it isn't an attonement to the lives you took".

Even when she approached Jessi (Selena Gomez) I could see her violent tendency all over again.

1. Rita: The fact that Rita actually started this whole thing for money and ended up caring about Manitas/Emilia still baffles me.

   I loved how her character transformed from a fidgeting woman to a confident woman. And let's not get started on her voice. Before I start overly praising her let's move on.

5.Gustavo: This character amused me. I didn't understand how he was able to do all he did because of Jessi. But I wonder if Jessi was really behind it or he was greedy for money. Maybe and this is me thinking out loud, just maybe he would've convinced her that she didn't need Manitas's money, just maybe he would've said that they could make it on their own, but did he NO!.

THE MOVIE'S COMPLICATED SCENARIOS AND LOVE STORIES IS UNIQUE IN ITS OWN LIGHT.
I give it a solid 6.8/10.
