This is actually a tough one...šŸ¤”

Lol, just kiddingšŸ˜‚

I’m choosing passport… sharps!

I’m choosing passport without a thought!

I’m choosing passport any day! All day! Everyday!!

No disrespect or offence intended to those that might choose the latter, but c’mon nau…really??

Lol…that’s on a lighter note though

Now let’s be serious.

Even in a flourishing economy, I’ll still choose passport over a phD. And I have my reasons.

it is important to note that I have nothing against education.

On the contrary, I love education. I think it is good, and it is a necessity too. I also love meeting educated people. The experience with highly educated people is top notch. But this conversation will be for another day.

However, the educational system… especially in Nigeria is too stiff for my liking.

I don’t know how it is in other African countries though. But in Naija…omo… there’s less room for flexibility.

You barely have time for other things. school will drain you of your energy, your time, your focus and your money. Only for you to graduate and there’s no job.

And then you realize you don’t possess those necessary skills that are required to save you from your current predicament because you were not able to learn and develop them while in school.

Now you’re trying to put yourself together and learn those skills, somebody will now come and be saying ā€œyou should further your education. Get your masters, and then your phD…bla bla blaā€ abeg gerrout sir…lol

Another reason why I won’t choose a phD is because, the idea of a white collar job(which is what Nigerian schools are about) isn’t for me.
Just the thought of having to wake up early, wearing a suit, and leaving my house early in the morning gives me this cringe feeling.
I need my early morning beauty(or handsomeness) sleep.
Unless during dinner dates, and some formal gatherings where there will be food…please, let me be in my simple jean and t shirt.. I no fit shout

Wearing suits or just even tucking in my shirt gives me this very serious look. But I’m a jovial person.
So… yea. It’s personal.
If my parents were to see this, they’ll nod their heads hard in disappointment. But make dem no vex. I am my own man now.

Please, I’ll also like to point out that this isn’t an advice. I’m simply sharing an opinion – my opinion.

If schooling is your thing, by all means, please chase it. Get as many phDs as you can carry. Become a professor if you can. The idea is knowing what works for you, and giving it your all, irrespective of what others say or think.

You’re the captain of your ship – which is this life that is given to you.

Make the most of it!!

i hope you enjoyed reading this.

see y'all some other time

You chose that without a second thought and your reasons are valid. Phd with no experience? You’ll sit home for the rest of your life with no job
