Review of All The Light We Cannot See: a crime against humanity approached from the perspective of "encounter" and union

Hello my dear friends of Movies & TV Shows, it's a pleasure to be around here with you once again. Today I will be sharing my opinion about this miniseries offered by Netflix, a production that at least to me for the first time allowed me to sketch a smile in relation to the subject matter of World War II.

This miniseries is not for lovers of the chaos corresponding to that date, as you won't see too much of it. This on the one hand I thought was accurate and on the other not. I didn't think it was right because I felt that it "erased" the burden of the damage, and I considered that in the end it was not so bad because movies and television have already brought us much of that genocide, so it is interesting to approach it from another perspective.

Hola mis queridos amigos de Movies & TV Shows, es un placer estar por aquí con ustedes una vez más. Hoy estaré compartiendo mi opinión sobre esta miniserie que ofrece Netflix, una producción que al menos a mí por primera vez me permitió esbozar una sonrisa en relación con la temática de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.

Esta miniserie no es para los amantes del caos correspondiente a esa fecha, pues no verán demasiado de ello. Esto por un lado me pareció acertado y por otro no. No me pareció adecuado porque sentí que se “borraba” la carga del daño, y consideré que al final no estaba tan mal porque el cine y la televisión ya nos han acercado mucho de ese genocidio, entonces es interesante abordarlo desde otra perspectiva.

Plot

Contextualized in World War II, especially in the period in which Germany invades France, causing the Nazi regime to soak French society in pain, this series tells the story of a soldier and a girl who cannot see, but who ends up playing a fundamental role in the story.

Parallel to what happens in the war, the story of a colonel is presented, someone of high position in the Nazi regime, who is trying to find a stone that according to legend, gives eternal life to whoever possesses it.

I do not want to advance in the description of the plot because I will fall into the spoiler and it would be a shame, since the production is very well done and subtly reveals what really happens.

However, I can tell you that little by little you will realize that "nothing is what it seems", this phrase fits very well for this series.

Suddenly, we see two characters who are in a time and place, but this story makes it clear how we often judge someone by who we see today, without knowing the background of this person, without knowing what they have gone through or what they are going through.

Trama

Contextualizada en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, en especial en el período en que Alemania invade Francia, provocando que el régimen Nazi empape de dolor a la sociedad francesa, esta serie nos cuenta la historia de un soldado y de una chica que no puede ver, pero que termina ocupando un rol fundamental en la historia.

Paralelamente a lo que ocurre en la Guerra, se presenta la historia de un coronel, alguien de alto cargo en el régimen Nazi, que está intentando encontrar una piedra que según cuenta una leyenda, le brinda vida eterna a quien la posea.

No quiero avanzar en la descripción de la trama porque voy a caer en el spoiler y sería una lástima, puesto que está muy bien realizada la producción y sutilmente va desvelando lo que ocurre en verdad.

Sin embargo, sí puedo decirles que poco a poco se van a ir dando cuenta de que “nada es lo que parece”, esta frase queda muy bien para esta serie.

De repente, vemos a dos personajes que están en un momento y en un lugar, pero esta historia nos deja en claro cómo muchas veces juzgamos a alguien por quien vemos hoy, sin saber el background de esta persona, sin saber por lo que ha pasado o por lo que está pasando.

The miniseries takes us through the encounter of these two people, who find a way to survive this moment from the heart. They feel that their true nourishment is in that inner corner of protection and in that shelter, they protect themselves from the immediate consequences of their respective situations and roles in the war.

As the story progresses, we also see the customs of the Nazi regime towards the students from the time they are children, ways of recruitment, strategies, and we also see the ingenious way in which France is able to communicate with the United States in order to work towards liberation.

La miniserie nos lleva por el encuentro de estos dos chicos, que encuentran una manera de sobrevivir a este momento desde el corazón. Sienten que su verdadero alimento está en ese rincón interno de protección y en ese refugio, se protegen de las consecuencias inmediatas de sus respectivas situaciones y roles en la guerra.

A medida que avanza la historia, también vemos costumbres del régimen Nazi para con los estudiantes desde que son niños, modos de reclutamiento, estrategias, y también se observa la manera ingeniosa que tiene Francia para poder comunicarse con Estados Unidos y así trabajar en la liberación.

Why did I observe that the "encounter" and the union is what runs through the plot?

This story brings us closer to the breaking down of barriers that often exist between political parties, it shows us how beyond the place that each person has to occupy, beyond the role that someone or a group often gives us, we keep inside the purity of who we once really were.

All The Light We Cannot See shows how even in the most difficult times, we can turn to that inner space where there is calm, where a pleasant memory is able to quiet the mind and calm whatever is happening to us.

But this is in each one of us. Each person has the ability to find that place, protect it and then know that it exists.

¿Por qué observé que el “encuentro” y la unión es lo que atraviesa a la trama?

Esta historia nos acerca la ruptura de barreras que a menudo existen entre partidos políticos, nos muestra cómo más allá del lugar que cada persona tiene que ocupar, más allá de ese rol que a menudo nos brinda alguien o un grupo, guardamos en el interior la pureza de quien alguna vez fuimos en verdad.

La Luz que No Puedes Ver demuestra cómo aún en los tiempos más difíciles, podemos recurrir a ese espacio interno en donde hay calma, en donde un recuerdo agradable es capaz de aquietar la mente y calmar lo que sea que esté ocurriéndonos.

Pero esto está en cada uno. Cada persona tiene la capacidad de encontrar ese lugar, protegerlo y luego saber que existe.

Opinion

I think it is a very nice miniseries to watch. Although it has pain, the message it conveys is very nice. Yes, as I commented at the beginning, I am used to see cruder productions of this moment in European history, and I don't know if it is because of the same human masochism, sometimes unconscious and unwanted, but in the end the theme was softened quite a bit.

They do show atrocities in the series, but the focus is on a positive message behind all the darkness that is being experienced.

Beyond the historical moment, what The Light You Can't See offers are different positive messages that are good for all of us, because although talking to some people, they think that this production is "too" cute for the Costa Rican theme it deals with, I am convinced that there are people in the world who are able to face complex moments with the best they have, appealing to resilience and the certainty that everything will pass.

Opinión

Me parece una miniserie muy linda de ver. Aunque tiene dolor, el mensaje que transmite es muy bonito. Sí como les comentaba en un principio, estoy acostumbrada a ver producciones más crudas de este momento de la historia europea, y no sé si será por el mismo masoquismo humano a veces inconsciente e indeseado, pero al final se suavizó bastante ese tema.

Igualmente sí que muestran atrocidades en la serie, pero el foco está en un mensaje positivo detrás de toda la oscuridad que se está viviendo.

Más allá del momento histórico, lo que ofrece La Luz que No Puedes Ver, son diferentes comunicados positivos que a todos nos vienen bien, pues aunque hablando con algunas personas, opinan que esta producción es “demasiado” linda para la temática tica que trata, estoy convencida de que hay personas en el mundo que son capaces de enfrentar momentos complejos con lo mejor que tienen, apelando a la resiliencia y a la certeza de que todo pasará.
