Meeting my teammates for the winter season at the Big Mountain Battle, Les Gets, France

Hello dear friends of Hive in the Family & Friends community, I hope you are having a nice day. Today I am going to take you for a walk in different places of Les Gets, but in a very particular dynamic: it is a match that takes place every year between the different groups of seasonal workers, from the different hotels.

It is organized by the owners of the hotels themselves and has 3 main objectives:

1 - Getting to know the village
2 - Getting to know your co-workers
3 - Get to know the other employees of the other hotels.

In this way, you maintain a sense of community within Les Gets, which is a very small town.

Hola queridos amigos de Hive en la comunidad de Family & Friends, espero que estén pasando un día hermoso. Hoy los llevaré a pasear por diferentes lugares de Les Gets, pero en una dinámica muy particular: se trataba de un juego que se realiza cada año entre los diferentes grupos de trabajadores temporales, de los diferentes hoteles.

Se organiza por los propios dueños de los hoteles y tiene 3 objetivos principales:

1 - Conocer el pueblo
2 - Conocer a tus compañeros de trabajo
3 - Conocer a los otros empleados de los otros hoteles

De esta manera, se mantiene el sentido de comunidad dentro de Les Gets, que es un pueblo muy pequeño.

The competition, or game, consists of first being given different colored handkerchiefs and ending up meeting with the other people who have the same colored handkerchief.

Then you are given a map of the city, with different points you have to get to, and once you get there, you take a selfie with the team and send it via chat to the competition coordinator.

As you go along, you have a few points where you can stop for a coffee. You will see in one of the photos that I have a snack in my hand, as they were offering cakes, cookies, tea and coffee.

A prize is awarded to the team that finishes this the fastest, which is not something extremely simple, as it even includes a trek.

Then, upon arrival, a competition of knowledge about Les Gets and winter sports begins, and there they give another prize to the wisest team, hehe.

We won the fastest team award, but in the end all the dodgers won something, because there were as many categories as there were teams. For example, one of them was the best selfie award.

The price was an entry for the gym with a pass for 3 sessions, as you can see in the picture.

La competencia, o juego, consiste en que primero te dan diferentes pañuelos de colores y terminas reuniéndote con las otras personas que tienen el pañuelo del mismo color.

Luego te entregan un mapa del pueblo, con diferentes puntos a los que tienes que llegar, y una vez que llegas, te sacas una selfie con el equipo y la envías por chat al coordinador de la competencia.

A medida que avanzas, tienes algunos puntos en donde puedes parar a tomar un café. Verán en una de las fotos que tengo un bocadillo en la mano, pues ofrecían pasteles, cookies, te y café.

Un premio es otorgado al equipo que termina esto más rápido, que no es algo sumamente sencillo, ya que incluso incluye un trekking.

Luego, al llegar, comienza una competencia de conocimiento sobre Les Gets y sobre los deportes de invierno, y allí entregan otro premio al equipo más sabio, jeje.

Nosotros ganamos el premio al equipo más veloz, pero al final todos los esquivos ganaron algo, pues habían tantas categorías como equipos. Por ejemplo, una de ellas era el premio a la mejor selfie.

EL premio fue una tarjeta con 3 entradas par el gimnasio, como pueden ver en una de las fotos.

Once the big battle was over, they invited us all together for dinner and introduced us for the first time to the famous tartiflette, a traditional meal from Les Gets that is made of potato, bacon and a huge amount of cheese. This dish is usually accompanied by wine, so they shared red and red wine with us, although we were also offered beer.

Una vez terminada la gran batalla, nos invitaron a cenar a todos juntos y nos dieron a conocer por primera vez la famosa tartiflette, una comida tradicional de Les Gets que está hecha de papa, bacon y una enorme cantidad de queso. Este plato suele acompañarse de vino, así que compartieron con nosotros vino tinto y rojo, aunque también nos ofrecieron cerveza.

I did not take so many pictures. At dinner I almost couldn't because I knew very few people and it seemed rude to me, at the same time they were all speaking in English, so I was very concentrated trying to keep up with the conversation, hehe.

And in the battle I took the pictures you see, because it was raining a lot and we were literally running, just to win, which of course we did 💪.

No tomé tantas fotos. En la cena casi que no pude porque conocía muy poco a las personas y me parecía de mala educación, al tiempo que todos estaban hablando en inglés, por lo que estaba muy concentrada intentando seguirles el ritmo de la conversación, jej.

Y en la batalla tomé las fotos que ven, pues estaba lloviendo muchísimo y estábamos corriendo literalmente, justamente para ganar, que claro que lo logramos 💪

A fact that I did not tell you and that is very important, is that in the battle I was able to share a team with Spanish speakers. Among all the people in this place, there are only 4 of us Spanish speakers.

Among the 30 people in the hotel where I am, 4, and among all the staff of the rest of the hotels, there are only 4 of us, hehe.

In the battle we must have been a total of 70 - 80 people, and among all of them, 3 of us Spanish speakers took the orange handkerchief, so we could share equipment, hehe. For me it was a beautiful experience.

Un dato que no les comenté y que es muy importante, es que en la batalla pude compartir equipo con hispanohablantes. Entre todas las personas de este lugar, somos solamente 4 los hispanohablantes.

Entre los 30 del hotel donde yo estoy, 4, y entre todo el personal del resto de los hoteles, nos mantenemos nosotros 4, jeje.

En la batalla habremos sido un total de 70 - 80 personas, y entre todas ellas, 3 de los hispanohablantes tomamos el pañuelo de color anaranjado, así que pudimos compartir equipo, jeje. Para mi fue una experiencia hermosa.
