Head hunted

I put out a couple of applications on Indeed to test the market and one of them actually gave me a hit. To be honest, I wasn't thinking too much of it and was only doing it to see what's available in the market.

The fact that a head hunter went out of their way to call me to discuss my application for a role is encouraging. The job in question is quite the distant from where I live, so if I'm chosen for the role, I'd have to relocate.

On a positive note, the role potentially offers a higher salary than my current position and it'll be sending me deeper down the insurance rabbit hole.

One thing about me is that when I make my way into an industry, I don't just settle for my position. I always look out for ways that I can get more out of the role and with so many opportunities in the industry, I'd be mental not to take advantage of it.

To be honest, I'd rather stay in the company I currently work for and stay in my current role but I've got to start thinking about visa sponsorship and try to get that resolved as soon as I possibly can. We've got just under two years left and while that seems like a long time, it could fly by in the blink of an eye.

So I've got to keep my head on the swivel and start pushing for even better opportunities in the long run. I want more and I never settle but this time, it's not just about money. I've got to find visa sponsorship.

"Interesting move putting out test applications! Do you think companies are more open to visa sponsorship now compared to a few years ago?"

I think they're more reluctant to sponsor because there's plenty talent in the country. You'll be sponsored in some specialized roles like data science
