Power Of Forgiveness And Kindness
There are certain situations one would encounter, and then you would ask yourself if this person deserves forgiveness. Most times, it takes a lot to forgive somebody, especially when what was done to you was something extremely painful and you can’t bear to look at the person’s face. We just need self-discipline to overlook some situations and forgive the next person.
I have encountered times when people did me dirty and then acted like they did nothing. Then I wonder if those people deserve forgiveness and if it is still important to be kind to them. Kindness goes beyond showing love and smiling at people. Kindness and forgiveness are two things that are intertwined. For you to be kind to people who have hurt you, you just have to forgive them and move on.
It takes a lot to forgive, but then forgiveness brings about healing. I always tell people that most times the person you hold a grudge against doesn’t even know you haven’t forgiven them. You get angry whenever you see them and keep holding things against them while they go about their lives freely. Forgiveness makes it easier for us to smile and be kind to people. It brings about healing, positivity, and peace of mind.
IN WHAT WAY CAN OFFERING FORGIVENESS BE AN ACT OF KINDNESS?
Offering forgiveness is an act of kindness. Kindness is all about showing compassion. It is about showing understanding and care for people. When we forgive someone, it simply means we are showing compassion and letting go of any negative emotions we may have had towards the next person. Forgiveness is a way of fostering kindness and peace in a relationship or gathering.
BENEFITS FROM FORGIVENESS
There are several benefits associated with forgiveness. Benefits that could arise as a result of releasing grudges, resentment, and negative emotions. One major benefit is peace. Whenever negative emotions are released and we forgive someone, we find out we are at peace with ourselves. There is a breath of fresh air that comes into your soul. Peace is something everyone needs, and forgiveness brings about that peace of mind.
Also, releasing negative emotions, grudges, and resentment helps strengthen our relationships with people. It brings about understanding among people. It also strengthens our well-being as individuals.
The impact of forgiveness on both healing and kindness towards oneself and others is that forgiveness brings peace of mind to oneself and also fosters reconciliation and understanding among people. You can only be kind to those you have forgiven.
KINDNESS JOURNAL
Being kind to people leaves smiles on my face every time, and I am happy that this is slowly becoming a daily routine.
Day 1: I was able to offer a listening ear to my friend, who complained about his mental health and how things were going for him. I am glad I was able to give some advice.
Day 2: This has become a daily activity as I now smile whenever I say hello to people. I love the smile they wear back.
Day 3: It is the period of Ramadan, and I was able to make a meal and give it to the security man after he was done fasting. He kept thanking me.
Day 4: I wrote a kind comment on someone’s blog, and I was surprised when he said, “He always looks out for my kind comments.”
Day 5: I was able to bring myself to forgive someone.
